Reading this chapter all I kept thinking is how Eric is a first class crafty bastard. That's impressively disturbing evil genius level right there.
He'll clearly do absolutely anything to ensure Jade is bound to him in as many ways as possible, with no consideration as to what she might actually want, and I expect with even less consideration to everyone else whose going to become an unknowing victim of his scheming too.
Will Jade ever find out the things he's done?
Then there's Sebastian who appears to genuinely want to work to fix the mess he's in.
I love how all of the characters you write are realistically human, not one of them is perfect.
Looking forward to the next update.

It's too easy to forget, given how much Eric clearly loves Jade, that he is still Eric. He's still controlling, utterly narcissistic and wholly unconcerned with Jade's best interests the minute those diverge from his own... and he has no concept of her as a separate person, with her own autonomy and deserving of privacy, at all. In brief, he's still a total psycho!

It makes Sebastian positively light relief. At least he has some insight into his flaws, and some desire to do better.

Increasingly anxious for poor Leah. This is not going to end well, one way or another, for someone, at least. I only hope Brady comes through for her, and the discovery of what's really awry isn't at less sympathetic hands.

I so love that you have women who are solid friends in this fic. That's depressingly rare, in a fandom dominated by women, especially. It's great to read that.
