Seems like for every step they take, there's always a step back. And that first section seems ominous for the future. I went looking up both series and book, and I'm finding myself hoping you mean only the writing style of the story and not what actually happened.

I expect the religious issue will be a great source of conflict, but as Mary is a monarch and Robert only a consort, I expect that her wishes would probably prevail. However I feel sure there would be much plotting on Robert's part to reverse that. He might have short term success but I doubt it would be permanent.
