This resentment and how you will allow it to manifest in the future is grand. I even like the Senju, even with their desperate expectations. You’re doing a great job telling the nuance of this story. Also, I can’t imagine Hashirama not pouring out all of his mistakes to his cute cute great granddaughter. Still very curious as to who sired whom along the way.

Wow. I'm really impressed by this. There is so much depth and characterization that I'm lacking words a little. Everything feels so real (this one and your Throwing a Stone in the River; that one had quiet intensity, characterization, realism, and depth, too).

A few comments since I can't seem to string together a properly formed review:

I love that we see resentment brewing in Sakura. The sudden changes and increasing stranglehold on her is just rife to breed it. Tsunade's becoming a different kind of hero, heroic in her having the strength to run rather than in her strength to stay. I really wonder how Tsunade would react to Sakura in this AU, particularly since Sakura has not only the Mokuton but the potential to learn her super-strength. If she learns healing, too, Sakura's going to be even more awesomely bamf, if perhaps more likely to run off to join Tsunade.

I sense attempted arranged marriages on the horizon, particularly ItaSaku. (But with the coup on the horizon, who knows how that would go? Or might it throw a wrench in it?) I love ItaSaku, but in this scenario, I feel that they'd empathetically hit it off, even if I'm not sure romantically yet (and particularly not at their current ages!). That conversation they had about being clan heirs just hit me in the heart. It makes me wonder if Itachi's own form of running from the clan is his prioritized duty to Konoha. I wonder if Sakura speaking more with Itachi would strengthen or weaken her resolve to gain power in order to flee the clan.

I'm looking forward to seeing Sakura, Ino, and Hinata interact. I was afraid that Ino was going to feel replaced or jealous (or even upset that Sakura didn't say anything when she and the Inuzuka got in trouble for fighting and Sakura didn't say anything), but I guess it was okay because we didn't get an immediate follow-up to the contrary. I'm really happy that Sakura's made friends with Hinata. I think Hinata can help Ino think better of Kekkei Genkai clans. Admittedly, I was surprised that Sasuke came over to talk to her, but depending on how her meeting the Uchiha officially goes (and I still smell attempted arranged marriage on the horizon), he might get friendlier. Shino's iciness was surprising, so that's a story I'm interested in learning. I suspect that one goes back to the intermarrying era. I was really happy that Shikamaru's looking out for Sakura in Ino's absence, though, and I wonder how her relationship with Naruto will turn out in this AU.

I wonder if Sakura's existence is the Shodaime's "mistake"...

I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of TCoT, TaSitR, and Tree Branches. That side story hit me in the heart, too. Now I wonder who else will eventually see Sakura train, and who she'll eventually meet. Thank you for wonderful stories, and happy writing~
