I do agree with your decision to kill Andy here, though reluctantly. Its not a bad death all things considered, though I do prefer happier endings personally at least the timing for it was good. However the ending as a whole just feels quite... off, and I'm going to critique it a bit here so don't feel like I'm flaming.

The last few chapters were kinda messy in general, though you mentioned that already in your author's note; lots of OCs (too many introduced all at once to keep track of), multiple chapters of nothing but battles, no contribution from Summer. Quite the 180 from what the story was about originally, except for the dream sequences I suppose.

The final part where he dies just falls flat, to be honest. If you were going to have Andy die, it probably should have been right there at the battle to make more of an emotional impact, not away from everyone with only a single OC bearing witness, and recording him at that. Maybe killed by Grimm protecting someone, or killed by Hunters before Summer could stop them. He would have his whole speech and singing etc with everybody watching and maybe even realize or feel guilty that they killed someone who was honestly trying to help.

Last thing is about the yet-to-come Epilogue; You said it would be non-canon, and I'm taking that to mean it will be a version of the story where Andy survived. If that isn't the case, you can disregard this next part.

I truly think there should still be a canon Epilogue about Summer coming to terms with what has happened and reuniting with her family. This story mainly had two Protagonists; Andy and Summer. Andy had his resolution, though it was a little lackluster he DID have one. However Summer never did. She hasn't had a role in the last few chapters besides yelling 'stop' a few times and trying to let the hunters know Andy isn't evil. He DIED for her, and he was scared and now you should really show what he died FOR. Have a bit of frustration and reconnection with Qrow, maybe some determination to give Andy a proper burial instead of letting Atlas take his body for study. A tearful reunion with her husband and kids just to see what Andy gave his life for. It really makes all the difference.

Hope you don't think I'm hating on your story, I wouldn't put this much effort into a review if I didn't like it. I'm very glad you wrote it, and I do hope that it will finish in a way that is satisfying. :)

*Sigh* yet another disappointment.
I've never seen a story of this type get even slightly satisfying, like actually have the 'beast' survive and get to live in society again, helping the way it can, or have shit not de-escalate extremely fast, like what if Qrow (I think it was him) noticed Summer back at the Beezlebub nest or something similar.

Average story of this type, ie. good but a fucking disappointment nevertheless.

I don't have the words to fully articulate my emotions right now, but I will say say this. I cried. This was a brilliant story to read. It easily makes my top 15. I'm not great at putting my thoughts into words so I'll wrap this up. It was a fantastic journey to the end, and I hope to read more from you in the future.

You made me get emotional, you bastard. I loved it. Andy singing you are my sunshine at the end hit me right in the feels. Well done.

Well, that was goddamn heartbreaking.

To be honest, while I think that's a good ending, I still would have preferred it if it ended with Summer living peacefully on Patch, and Andoriol living with her and protecting her, as well as letting little Ruby go for rides on his shoulder, and being Yang's "punching bag".

But, we don't always get what we want. And that's okay.

That last part was really emotional and I cried at the end I wished he could have got to say goodbye to Summer at his final moment

That ending almost broke my heart but was amazing anyway.

Well fuck me that was excellent. Loved how you ended it, made me sad but I can see why you ended it as you did. Good stuff, I am sad now though haha
