Both the cartoon and this story show just how opposite Marrinette's and Adrien's lives are. Marinette isn't rich, but she has loving parents who don't expect too much from her. Adrien, on the other hand, is wealthy, but his father barely spends any time with him and has high expectations for him. In the show, it's pretty obvious that Adrien would love to have Marinette's life.
