Absolutely sweet and beautifully written. The crisis moment of bringing the dress to school where it could be ruined was a bit of a stretch, but everything after that fit perfectly. I happily enjoyed neglecting my chores and missing sleep for this story, many thanks for sharing it!

And so we've come to the end. I've been on a binge of "akumatized Marinette" stories and while her physical description is a bit hazy, 'Fabricator' is by far the most cleverly named and symbollically rich akuma form I've come across. To me, the strength of your writing is in your attention to character details and a willingness to explore the seemingly two-dimensional members of the cast.

Standout moments include Marinette's temptation by Papillon, and how she's twisted into seeing his offers as kindess and friendship. I loved everything with Chloe and Mr. Agreste, and how you fleshed out these antagonists with glimpses into their pasts, little flashes of kindess and moments of vulnerability. It's easy to fall into the trap that Chloe thinks of Adrien as arm candy or an accessory, but if they really were childhood friends and she truly values his approval, then suddenly you've got a fascinating character to explore. I also enjoyed her 'truce talk' with Marinette. It makes sense that Mari can't forgive her outright or 'play nice' for Adrien's sake after all they've been through. The burden is on Chloe to mend her ways, and her final 'gift' and chat with Ladybug are neat signs of her road to recovery.

As for critiques, I've previously mentioned my issues with Mari's priorities of personal recovery over her civic duties, and how that does a disservice to her character. The chapters I'd classify as 'falling action' (~12-15) felt on the long side pace-wise, and I found myself skimming a bit, since I was more invested in Mari's fallout with Chloe and the city (an unknown) rather than her growing romance with Adrien (a seemingly done deal). "Unsung" has some flaws, but I consider it a must-read among "akumatized Marinette" stories for its cafeful attention to characters and relationships.

IT'S ABOUT TIME, GIRL! I get the intention - that Marinette can't heal the city until she heals her own guilt and self-doubt. The events work on a symbolic level, but for Marinette to neglect her healing duties - and here, on the excuse that she "just forgot" among all the turmoil, even though she's been wandering through the string-based carnage day after day - seems more like something Chloe would do, rather than the selfless friend and hero, Marinette. (And why haven't Chat and Master Fu given her any prods about fixing things?)

I wonder if this would have played better if Marinette's miraculous cure simply didn't work - that she tries several times to utilize her lucky charm, but because of her emotional turmoil, the spell fizzles every time, until she's truly at peace with herself?

As enjoyable as it is to see Marinette's blossoming relationship with Adrien, isn't half of Paris still suffering collateral damage from her akuma rampage? I know she's got teen angst to work through, but Marinette comes off as really self-absorbed when she makes time for games and moping, but not to make a cursory transformation to de-evilize that trapped moth and restore her city. Get your chores done before you go play, girl!

Adrien and Chloe having their own secret sign language from their time as kids - now that is a cool bit of world-building that speaks depths about their childhood bond. If this is just one of their many memoris, the. It's no wonder Chloe is so enamored with him.
