I do like the fact that you're making Dumbledore seem more like a I-have-other-responsibilities-and-don't-always-have-time-to-look-after-Harry Dumbledore than the alternative usual copout of I-was-using-Harry-the-whole-time-in-order-to-make-myself-rich-and-I'm-a-super-evil-villain-hiding-in-plain-site Dumbledore that everyone likes to use and bash on.

There is however, one thing I would like to point out. As far as I'm concerned, the Tri-Wizard Tournament is a tournament with a magical contract, meaning if any of the champions drop out, they loose their magic. How are you going to get Harry out of the tournament then? If that's what you even want to do, anyway. James sent that howler as a hint to Dumbledore and McGonagal to try to find a way to get Harry out of the tournament, or at least, find who put this name in. But, when they do find the perpetrator, how will they break the contract on Harry? Or will they force him to compete?

That will be a bridge to cross when we get to though, so I'm not so worried about it right now. However, I do want to see Harry and the Elric Brothers meet and maybe have them give him a crash course in Alchemy. Harry needs some older brother figures and, while Al may be younger, the Elrics seem like the perfect role models. And building on that, Harry doesn't truly know how families are supposed to work. So, I think it'll be hilarious to see Harry treat Elicia with a mixture of his father's praise, Edward and Alphonse's influence, and a bit of some good ol' Weasley coddling.

All in all, I really like this chapter. Very well thought out and, while I may be a bit concerned and nit-picky, very nicely written with intriguing interactions between Harry and his father and a nice look into what Hogwarts is going through during Harry's absence. I like the idea of the connected trunks so Harry can bring one with him wherever he goes and he can still be close to his father. I'm looking forward to what you're going to write next, keep it up!

I never realized how similar Maes Hughes and James Potter were until I found your clever story! Can't wait to see where it goes
