I like the touch of realism in this fic, and that really fits IR to the T. They're not cringe-inducing sappy and when they both have matured enough, I can see that "awkwardness" brought by both of their "tsundere-like" qualities diminishing, because at the core of that relationship, they share a kind of connection that makes them comfortable with each other, something that no one in the series could match. Seriously though, kubo wasted a lot of things when he did not let IR happen. We could have had an explanation of the exact role of the nobles in SS (their connection with the soul king, etc.), the reason of the fall of the house of Shiba, the potential hilarious conflict between ichigo and Byakuya, and many more. kubo, by doing IH, took the easy way out, and that spells nothing but utter laziness. Not that I'm surprised though. During the last two years of blech, we have seen nothing from ichigo except for running around from one point to another, without actually accomplishing anything. You spend one week waiting for the update, only to be given an 18-page chapter that you could finish in 2 minutes, because each had nothing important happening, just whole page spreads of some background or something. blech has lost its soul for a long time already and it's sad that a lot had realized that too late.
