Don't feel bad. Honestly, some places just suck and don't understand things. Honestly, it's not your fault that you had to miss so much in such a short amount of time. You did the best you could and that's all that can be expected of you. Just know that what you did was the right thing to do - being there for your brother, taking time to get better yourself, and making sure you're doing the things required for your school. If your job couldn't see that it was the right thing to do and that you needed to do that, then screw them. Trust me when I say that had you not done that, you would've regretted it. Had you gone to work instead of being with your brother during his hospitalization, you would've been worse had some complication arisen and he had not made it. Had you pushed yourself to go to work while you were ill, you could've done more harm towards yourself. Had you skipped the school event and gone to work, who knows how badly your grade could've been affected. These could've been so much worse than what they came to be. So while you did lose your job, look on the bright side, at least nothing bad happened and you don't have any regrets towards those that have happened because should you have done something else, they could've ended in much worse ways than imaginable. Now while I understand that people can't flip a switch and change their emotions, try to be happy for what you have. You still have your family, you still have your health, and you're still in school. Just make it through what you have and make sure you make things better. Sitting there wallowing in your own self-loathing won't fix anything. What will is when you stand up, take life by the neck, and force it to get better. Make your life better by getting up and doing what you can to make it better. I hope things turn around for you and I hope you feel better and happier soon. Best of luck and wishes!

I wish I had something better to say to you with all your struggle but I will say this life is tough to us I am glad that you have a family and friends that are there for you. I know that both engineering at college and work is tough but I wish the best for you and your family and will be praying for you.
