This lacks the heart and soul of Uhtrdled of Bebbanburg. His wit and cleverness are lacking, as is his heart.

Auri-El should've protected Vyrthur. Just like Arkay protected Lamae Beolfag. Doesn't always work out like that. I don't know if it's Molag Bal's influence, the vampirism itself, or something else, or just bad luck that the Divine in question had a hangnail that day and wasn't in a helpful mood.

Elisif is young, inexperienced and a bit naive, and tends to overshoot the mark. But considering what the DB finds in that cave, in this case sending a large detachment, even if a whole legion is a bit much, WOULD have been the best action. Battle mages would've been a good idea...

Why didn't they rest for a couple hours when they were in a building with just one door that could easily be barred? Going somewhere without a waterskin and a bag of hardtack and jerky is kind of a self-induced death sentence anyway. They just needed a safe place for a nap, and Sinderion's field laboratory fits that description.

They could've been going fresh into the hard battles against all Blackreach would've thrown at them.

When I'm going to Blackreach I'm a lot better prepared, though I do admit that, unlike those five, I know what awaits me there.

I can understand a bit that Uhtred wouldn't want to go back to Helgen. But he SHOULD have bought a good map of Skyrim by now, what with his constant travelling across the country. He would know, then, that the shortest route from Riften to Riverwood is the road South of Lake Honrich, as it goes straight (hm, not so straight in fact, but almost...) to Helgen and from there it's a stone's throw to Riverwood. There's a rather ugly pass involved, depending on the weather it can be a difficult journey, but it's a lot shorter, and time is of the essence.

Perhaps I'm a bit obsessed with short routes. In previous reviews I've commented on that more than once. Most probably because I don't fast travel at all, and I walk places more often than use the carriages. It's fun, nets quite some wolf, bear, and sabre cat pelts, and is faster than the carriages. If I leave Whiterun for Riften early in the morning I arrive in Riften late afternoon/early evening. If I leave home on foot by mid-morning I arrive at Fort Dawnguard at the same time. With just enough time to skin and harvest all the animals I've picked up on the way before I go to bed.

On the other hand, I've liked maps since I can remember. :-)

I was thinking that you probably read The Last Kingdom Book series by Bernard Cornwell and chose the Dragonborns name because of it. Looking forward to reading this story!

Epic Story Serana is a total babe.

Funny thing is, in the game the watchman at the castle's gate is not a vampire. He's an old man, but still. He immediately recognises Lady Serana, although his great-grandparents' great-grandparents weren't born when Serana was shut away, there's no picture of Serana anywhere, and, because she's suspected to never come back, is most probably not talked about, and in any case not described so well that the gatekeeper should be able to recognise her.

Is there no fucking story on here where they don’t turn into a werewolf or a vampire?

Brilliant story, especially as you wrote of an honourable warrior, which is the kind of characters I usually dislike.
