They are evil bullies who think they have a right to tell others what they should and should not write. And don't be fooled by what they say. They are NOT the administrators of FanFiction. Ignore Critics United and anybody connected to them.

As you have been told, copyrighted song lyrics are not permitted on this site. As suggested to you already, you can either remove the lyrics and rework the story to mention the song playing on something in the background. Use a song that is within Public Domain (meaning it is no longer protected by copyright.). Write your own, or tell readers to listen to it while reading. You could move the story to another site, but be aware that all sites have a rule against copyright infringement.

No, a disclamer will not help you in this matter. Not only are the copyrighted lyrics not allowed on this site but they are also illegal. A disclaimer will not stop the copyright holders from taking action.

You also have the option of risking it with the admins. But I remind you now that not only is your story at risk of removal, but your account could also be suspended, or removed, for breaking their rules.

Just so you are aware, you cannot use copyrighted song lyrics or parts of song lyrics within a fic. It is not only against the Terms of Service we all agreed to when we signed up for this site, but is also considered plagiarism since you do not own the rights to these songs. You may, however, reference them, tell readers to listen to said songs while reading in an author's note at the beginning, or completely re-write the lyrics so they are your own. Take all these suggestions into consideration, as they will help you avoid ToS issues in the future. Please understand, I say what I say in the spirit of what this site is about, making good stories great, if not brilliant.

I just want to put this out there for all Sing (2016) fanfiction authors out there. There have already been two of my favorite stories deleted because of this hater. You know what, ignore him/her. There are thousands, possibly millions, of songfics either here or else where and no one has alerted them why? Because we're just here having a good time by reading, but there's always someone out there that has to ruin it for them. And if he/she does try to take it down, it's not the end of the world. There are other sites out there. Just don't be threatened by these trolls. You do you and let them do them.
