This was sad, yes, but the word I find more appropriate is saying that this was haunting. This was a short story, but you left your mark.

i like how you write this. however i'm not sure that he doesn't know that she isn't married. it comes across like it was a surprise, but a "famous" actress like her would have her marriage/kid splattered on the news. in a way, him knowing all that and still having that connection 5 years later is even more heart-breaking
