Goldspark1 chapter 23 . 7/21
This is going to be a review of everything up to chapter 23.

First off, I greatly enjoy how Shockwave is presented in this story. He is still the scientist we know from the cartoon yet this slight change from a Cybertronian to a Faunus/Cybertronian was exciting to follow. While no doubt, people are going to be disappointing to not see him change from a cold scientist, their still feels like change has happened. He has grown. He got used to the technology of dust, he is pushing the boundaries of what is possible not only of dust but of his own with a ground bridge. He has sparked creativity and hard work in his students. He has neutralized a threat to the Maidens. So while his core personality is the same, their still feels like character growth is here. Just not the character development where he starts to become compassionate.

Greatly enjoy what Shockwave did to team Cinder. Shockwave may have gone head first into the fight against against the three experienced fighters yet this was all a calculated risk as even if he was defeated, he had multiple traps on standby to make sure he won the fight. Showing that attacking them head on was not based on his pride as a warrior. Then with Cinders clean slate was a great character moment. We finally see the more amoral experiments he has to keep from prying eyes and he gets a test subject that not only has a small amount of the fall maidens power, but a lab rat to do as he sees fits. The possibilities are endless. Will he try to suck the fall maidens power out of her and give it back to Amber as another way to get her indebted to the scientist? Will he experiment more with how Aura works? Will he use her as a test tube to grow a baby he can mold? All possible reasons to keep her alive, if in a vegetable state. Emerald is another useful tool because of her semblance so both the women are kept alive for good reasons. Mercury just had nothing the doctor could make great use of so didn't even bother with a psychic patch. All these decisions make sense for the logical doctor and show his character.

This is a little nick pick, but back in chapter 3, when Shockwave is buying his clothes from Amber, I was a bit disappointing he never called her back to get the Decepticon insignia onto his jacket. Sure, the move is illogical to want such a scary logo purely for nostalgia but I the audience will always remember him as the Decepticon scientist.

Enjoyed another calculated rick he took with informing Blake about the staff knowing about her past. As he said, anyone with basic research and common sense could figure out her past so its not like he blew the lid off a huge secret. This did allow him to put her on the spot to see if she will stay her ground or will run away. Cowardice is not welcome at Beacon academy and its great to see Shockwave test her without directly harming her.

You do a great job of having Shockwave teach a class about the practical science they will need in the world. While Shockwave studies everything and everything he learns will push science forward with his many experiments. Yet he understands that not everyone is a scientist and thus only need enough to their chosen field of expertise. From Ruby's above average knowledge of weapons, to Weiss' knowledge of dust, to Velvet's use of multiple weapons and many other students. No knowledge he teaches them will be wasted and serves the added benefit of having interest from the students. No doubt, if you go to his class not wanting to learn anything, he will not bother to teach you anything.

Love the call out to Soundwave being such a strong Cybertronian, up there with Optimus and Megatron. Even in Shockwaves emotionless delivery, this still feels like a compliment towards the communications officer.
Goldspark1 chapter 7 . 7/20
Have to say, I really enjoyed Soundwaves conversation to Glynda at the end of chapter 7. He knew from the get go that she did not enjoy his methods. Far too cold yet like a logical being, he knew that convincing someone from their point of view is a exercise in futility. People are really hard to change their opinions on. Be it Cybertronian or human. Especially through argument. As one wise person said "You only win an argument when you convince the other it was their idea the whole time."

Also enjoyed his reaction to the existence of Maidens in a previous chapter. To him, this is not much different than learning Arua and Semblances exist.
Andrew MacKenzie chapter 23 . 7/17
Excellent chapter once again. I will sorely miss your work when you leave for basic training, you have several really good stories.
Hellbreaker chapter 23 . 7/16
Some readers are pointing out that Shockwave is turning out to be the bad guy. In nearly every Transformers universe, Shockwave has always been a part of the bad guys. He's a Decepticon for a reason.

Seriously, what the scrap have these people been smoking?
PressOfFiction chapter 23 . 7/16
The way you write Shockwave gives me a reading erection. You're absolutely right that he wouldn't be a moral star and would do things with a clear-cut, efficient mindset. Try not to overdo the combat training and I wish you the best of luck man.
Guest chapter 23 . 7/16
Don't get the complaints Shockwave is behaving exactly as Shockwave does he is a bad guy as a result of his nature of relying on logic to be more accurate he isn't truly bad but rather he does whatever is logically best even if it emotionally isn't which he doesn't need to worry about. On a side note with Shockwave experimenting with Emerald, Cinder and the body of Mercury the first thing that jumped into my head is from the JPDE comic where some sort of metallic silver entity copied Mercury except they were female, on a side note he will probably be very interested in Mercurys genetics when he looks him up the son of Marcus Black a man who could steal semblances, logically this could grant him many advantages if he could learn how to do so himself or at the very least copy or balance it in his body much like he does dust formulae.
CyberFan479 chapter 23 . 7/15
As a current Sergeant-in-training, I wish you good luck.
Dedsellerweq chapter 23 . 7/15
Good luck with your training, we shall await for your updates when they arrive. In the mean time, I shall laugh with the foolish thought of Shockwave becoming a good guy, something completly illogical. DECEPTICON FOREVER!
BrutusPrimus chapter 23 . 7/15
Nice work! And again, good luck with your Military path!
Lord Tritus chapter 23 . 7/15
I didn't notice that this chapter was about to finish until it did, I am still very interested in how Shockwave's appearance changes everything.
I will wish you luck in the path you have chosen.
I will patiently wait for your return to writing, the moment you do, I will know.
Have a great day.
The Avenging Titan chapter 23 . 7/15
"Shockwave is starting to turn out like a badguy?" Are these people high or something? Have they forgotten that Shockwave was/is a Decepticon who was loyal to Megatron? Of course he is a bad guy! And even if he won't necessarily be a bad guy in this story he will at the very least be a cold hard Anti-Hero driven by logic and a Machiavellian mentality that will without a doubt put him at odds with Ozpin and Team RWBY.

Hey, i had an idea. Instead of Shockwave sticking with Ozpin and instead of joining Salem how about instead he forms his own faction. One that will be in conflict with both Salem and Ozpin/Team RWBY as they work behind the scenes. Maybe he can recreate the Decepticons on Remnant with Humans and Faunus sharing similar ideologies to him.
