Loved your choice to use Whamu. An excellent JoJo reference with some fabulous posing and manliness. All that was missing was some background music.

Good battle with A.J. Great to see he had the skills to win and with such an unorthodox method.

And Gloom learning the song 'What Kind of Pokémon Are You', pretty funny even though it's not my favorite. I can sympathize with Erika on that part.

The other trainers had to be (in order): Shinji Matou (arrogance little worm), some guy from Pokémon Conquest (don't know who), Whamu (more JoJo is always appreciated), and Gilgamesh. Poor guy didn't get to finish his Dynamic Entry...

Though I don't know Nuzleaf's character... Anyways, thanks for the one-shot and all the references. Keep up the good work.

Very late, but I finally found some time to get back to all the Interlude and Gaiden I still need to catch up. First of all, this Interlude was fun to read: I liked the Gym match even if it felt a bit short, I liked the strategies you made use of and played up Erika's usage of weather effects nicely without feeling like a copy of her specialized Rain Dance from her battle with Ash, alongside some fun with Erika's oddball challengers, and I enjoyed the mute badass Nuzleaf.

If I had an issue with the story, it would be that it felt a tad bit filler in the grand scheme of things: aside from showing how AJ got his third badge and the kind of odd shenanigans Erika's Gym gets tangled with now, it doesn't really reveal much, and the Interlude itself felt more squarely on AJ than it was about Erika in this sense. I also feel that sometimes the dialogue and descriptions weren't as good as they could've been (certain turns of phrases like Erika's advice to AJ to be careful about item-using Gym Leaders in particular feeling rather unnatural) and some typos here and here that knock the battle down some.

Aside from that, however, this was a fun little one-shot, and I hope to be able to review your Black Rose Tournament one soon as well! Keep up the good work!

You wouldn’t capitalize animal or mouse or dragon, so you shouldn’t capitalize words like pokemon or pikachu or charizard. The only time you should capitalize it is if you’re using it as the pokemon’s name, ie, Ash’s pikachu is called Pikachu. This is because you only capitalize when it’s a proper noun, which are the names of places or things. Similar reasoning should be applied to any other words you’re thinking of capitalizing, like telephone or trainer. Or professor. If you object to this, please take it to the thread instead of messaging me.

Anyway, about the oneshot itself, it was a pretty good one. I've grown to like A.J. as one of my favorite recurring characters, so it was nice to see one of his gym battles. Maybe I'll use him in one of my future works too. Sad to say that Nuzleaf doesn't ring a bell on me, so I don't quite get it, sorry (or any particular reference, for that matter). I enjoyed the battle, and it's nice to see someone exploring Erika to show that, sexual preferences aside, she doesn't hate men in general.

So well, this adds another one to my to-translate list, and I'm gonna enjoy it while I do. Keep up the good work.
