I didn't expect to find a new long HP/Merlin crossover I actually enjoy, especially on here - most people post on AO3 now, I was wondering if you have an account there? I much prefer the format.

I really like Merlin befriending Draco here. I'm Slytherin myself and have always thought that if everyone didn't condemn Slytherins as evil, if they had been given choices, it would have been much different for a number of people. "United we stand, divided we fall." The house division was never really fully addressed in the books and I wish it had, it would have sent a really powerful message.

And I love that you're acknowledging that yes, while Merlin can squash Voldemort like a bug, it's the ideology behind it that's the problem, and ideologies are difficult. Prejudice and ignorance have been perpetuated for too long, and so they're making steps to change that, acknowledging it as the real enemy. The idea that he and Arthur were supposed to bring magic back to the land, to bridge that divide, but had never been accomplished by the show - now they can. A second chance.

I do have a few critiques I hope 't mind: Some of the characters' emotions seemed unrealistic in how they would react as more fleshed out people in writing, the subtle nuances of feeling. I found Merlin to be very emotional at the start of the fic. With Arthur it was more realistic, both with Merlin as they just reunited, and as himself, dealing with sudden changes. Merlin, however, had more than a thousand years. I could see him being broken in that sense, but not like. Being brought to tears every time something from Camelot , or seeing Gwen's portrait, stuff like that, that could bring about complex emotions that wouldn't appear as sadness or tears on the outside, that usually strikes deeper as well. I would imagine some of the wrong historical accounts would be something like an inside joke to himself, but wouldn't exactly make him uncontrollably laughing to himself. Or irritated but not heing exaggerated with it? If sense. I could also understand his inner war with his humanity, and how he could feel not-human, unnatural - a monster. But a thousand years of it, as well as Merlin's natural disposition, he doesn't normally express it, and would resort to humour. I could not picture him as that shaking, terrified of Dumbledore's judgement like when he revealed himself. 1500 years would leave him more desensitised to those things, especially when Merlin's never cared much on others' opinions on him, besides people he cared about, especially Arthur's.

That's the biggest thing I noticed, I guess. The complexity and nuance of emotions that could be felt, suppressed, turned into mechanisms, more suble facial expressions. Volatile characters that learned to better contain it, especially Merlin after a millenia, when he's already got it down so well in his shorter years in Camelot.

I'd also really love to see more of Merlin being a dragonlord. Kilgharrah lived for a , not sure how long and he seems to be gone here, but Aithusa's younger. It would be really lovely to see Merlin that had bonded more with her. That she didn't show up for the first 42 chapters is understandable considering she's a dragon, and she can't exactly just go visit him randomly. Maybe a cameo with Freya as well?

Well I didn't sleep and read everything in one go just now XD

This was so much fun! The last couple of weeks I've been only reading bromance stuff so when I started the next fic on my list I still expected bromance but then I wasn't sure anymore and didn't want to stop reading and check (since I'm reading on the app). So instead I just shipped the hell out of them like I would do if I were watching a show and ahhhh my OTP seems to become canon for real ahhhhh!

I must confess though I totally spoilt myself how long it would take for Merlin and Arthur to finally meet and only after I found that out I could go back and properly read the chapters in between. I just couldnt handle the uncertainly of them being apard for longer than a couple of hours XD.
