I think this is my favorite "Merlin almost burns" fic I've ever read, because it's not associated with any feelings of betrayal between Merlin and his friends. This was such a unique approach to the topic and I really appreciate reading it!

this was really well-written. i liked the knights' fears as well, they were obviously thought through.

i go back and forth, myself, on whether this would be a fear for merlin, mainly b/c of the fact that he seems so comfortable with fire spells, in-series. though i suppose it could be a 'face your fears' type of thing. familiarity with and greater control over the element lessens the fear, maybe...

I love it! Maybe there could be a part 2 where they confront the villagers?
