Reviews for Supernatural Affairs: Nine Cases
YuukiAsuna-Chan chapter 28 . 3/30
How can Ruby possibly be so naive. She can't possibly have been a cop for a couple years and be that naive. I gotta agree with Weiss here, i can see that reality is gonna hit Ruby hard at some point.
ChaosSpartan575 chapter 129 . 2/22
This story was awesome. Dialogue was on point. The pacing and set up for later plot points were well executed. Well worth a read.

Well, that was quite the story! I have been away from the ff net for a couple of years now and this was a great way to get back into it.

Character development was pretty good and believable. Characterization was also pretty consistent throughout the whole story and I really enjoyed the slow burn.

As a police romance, the escalation from one case to another was also pretty good and kept me craving for the next development the whole time.

The way you explored magic, rituals and other materials was also very interesting and adequate for the word you created in general, following that same sense of escalation between cases while staying consistent with the world and rules you tailored.

Praises aside, if you allow me criticism: The word "somehow" appears way to frequently and keeps you from adding some extra life to your scenes.

Overall, it was a pretty good story and I went thought all chapters in just a couple of weeks, reading in every opportunity I could. I would LOVE to see more of detectives Rose and Schnee, but I do understand that you need some downtime from such a length work.

Right after finishing this I'm already up to date with Dust Trader, so please, keep up the great work!

I don't really blame you for not wanting to write a sequel. I imagine this story was a monster to get through. As a reader, though, I think it was worth it. I really enjoyed reading through it. The way you translated the RWBYverse into this AU was fun, and the individual cases and overarching story were well executed. A lot of intense action too, with me wishing I could see scenes like the battle against the Prince and Weiss' struggles in Faerie in animation. And of course, Ruby and Weiss' dynamic is great throughout, being a well balanced mix of funny and emotional throughout. I won't waste time with my nitpicks, as most of them are more down to my personal preferences than objective criticism. Seriously, though, I was engaged the whole time, so great work all around.

This was the best fucking story I ever read! I am so happy I got to be on this journey from almost the beginning and kinda sad I didn’t get to catch up until now. You’ve mixed sci-fi/ fantasy with a taste of reality!
As much as I would love and devour a sequel, this was an amazing story and could not be any happier with it’s conclusion. I wish this was on TV! I love it! I love it!
Thank you for taking time from your life to give all of us a damn good read!

Pterygio chapter 129 . 8/8/2019
This was fantastic. There's not a whole lot to say without repeating what I've said in my previous reviews. I enjoyed every second of this. The only negative thing I can say about this is that the ending did not feel satisfying to me. While I did enjoy how the main conflict and final case wrapped up, it feel like the conclusion chapters told far too little and didn't do enough to make me feel content with what was written. I can't be too mad, though, about you leaving it open ended for a sequel you don't expect to write, as I'm guilty of doing the exact same thing with my proudest story.
All in all, this was just an amazing story and easily my favorite RWBY fanfiction, although I can't say I've read too many. Thanks for putting so much effort into this and writing something that kept me entertained all the way through every single chapter.
Pterygio chapter 101 . 8/4/2019
Damn you. I thought you switching the lines from the show to the opposite people meant you were creating a nice parallel where this standoff would end differently than in the show, but then. . . damn you.
Pterygio chapter 57 . 7/27/2019
So I've never been fond of the idea of slow-burn stories or picking up fanfictions with massive wordcounts, but this story is everything I want in a RWBY fanfiction. Your way of storytelling is addicting and your writing is almost as professional as any published work I've read. Your versions of these characters are so intriguing. The way you continue to unveil new little details here and there in a seamless flow adds to the addictive nature of this story. It just makes me want to keep reading, to find out more about the characters and the overarching plot you're setting up. You've written a real page turner, and if you haven't made strides to becoming a published author then I seriously think you should.
Everything about this story just keeps my constant, rapt attention and has me hooked through and through. The only negative thing I can say is that you made me kind of hate Blake, Yang, and Coco for a bit, three characters I really liked from canon. Although, now that I think about it, I can't say it's a bad thing. Writing from the perspective of Weiss gives the reader a biased view, and my opinion on them changed at the same pace hers did. So maybe making me hate them like Weiss would is just another mark of immersive writing.
I've greatly enjoyed the first half of this story and can't wait to dive into the rest of it. Although I want to say I've already made a guess at something you haven't revealed yet, and that's why Ruby can touch Weiss. For a while now I knew she either could the entire time or something would happen that allowed her to as there was no way you could write a 400k word story without a single kiss from your central romance. The first seemed more likely and I guessed a while ago what I think is actually canon in your story. I don't want to say exactly what I'm thinking for not wanting to spoil anything for anyone else not caught up with the story, but what I'll say is this: Weiss has already kind of met Ruby's mother, yes?
Pterygio chapter 7 . 7/21/2019
I usually wait until after I finish/get caught up with a story to review, but this is so good I had to do one sooner. So far, this is amazing. Your characters are believable and act incredibly human. Your writing style is so fluid and professional that it immerses me in the story so well. You're building your world slowly and realistically in a way that makes me feel like it already exists and every little detail isn't being forced down my throat at each turn. I can't wait to continue reading and seeing your versions of these characters grow and be expanded upon. I also particularly like how you've started Mercury off as a good/neutral character before sending him down a darker path instead of making him a preestablished bad guy, which is unique.
The only qualm I have so far, although both subjective and minor, is you recreating scenes from the show. I don't think it's far to say it's lazy, but it does feel a tad unoriginal. My main issue with it is that it distracts me from the fact that I'm reading a stand alone story, and bluntly reminds me that this is a fanfiction of something else. But, like I said, this is a minor qualm I have and it's the only one. Great story so far, I look forward to seeing it through to the end and reading your other/future works.

Whew that kept me busy for a few days lol. An amazing read and very well written, thank you for sharing this! .
Thorgrun chapter 80 . 3/16/2019
This is wonderfully written, witty, adorable, thrilling and overall a great read. Loving it so far, and all the concepts from other anime I've seen is perfectly woven into all the lore it flows so well. And I just KNOW that god arm is for yang, im sooooo patiently awaiting that moment! :D
Thorgrun chapter 7 . 3/13/2019
Lol it's funny, I've had this fic bookmarked for awhile now, and I see it constantly in my searches and keep thinking, "I'll read it later." And now that I'm finally reading it i wonder why it wasnt the first thing i picked up. I'm already so hooked! :D
SwagMagusSupreme chapter 129 . 3/12/2019
I don't know why I didn't review the final chapter immediately after I read it, and I wish that I had. I was lucky enough to decide one day to stop browsing RWBY fics sorted by favorites, and instead take a look at the recently updated. I believe this story was around 40-ish chapters long when I started, and I expected it to be another one of those great fics that would just die or be put on "indefinite hiatus" forever once the updates stop coming in. However, it is your incredible, outstanding, unbelievable consistency in updating this fanfic that made me stick to the very end. Never mind the excellent characterization, the interesting and unique setting, the understandable and well-thought magic system, and the outstanding way you twisted RWBY canon into the story. The fact that I could rely on YOU to push out quality chapters consistently until the very end is what I admire you for. You have done an excellent job, sir or madam, and I cannot wait to see what excellent literature you show us next. Good job, and good luck on your next project.
