I appreciate that Goblin and Elena AREN'T just two-dimensional characters who's entire personalities are summed up with "bigoted jackholes". It is plain to see that this story was made, top-to-bottom, with an immense amount of passion and a noticeable portion of dedication. Even if the attention-to-detail and dialogue could sometimes use some work, and even if the game-mechanics do tend to bleed through into the narrative, too much. The work you've put in and the ideas you have are, if not ground-breaking, at least reliably well-executed.

This story is entertaining and thinking of the characters therein brings a smirk to my face. I'll be looking forward to the next addition.

I've just finished it and it's very very very good. But please fix the commander. He doesn't have to bark orders every second, soldiers have their own brain. It would also fix the rather gamyish clearly turn combat. While it makes the story feel very close to the game's design, it makes it feel unrealistic sometimes.

k... so I'm about halfway through and I am getting the image of a drunk viper... which I surprisingly haven't read about yet in any of the stories I've read yet.

The way that this chapter is written seems like the Doctor forced Zero to endure all three stages in a single day. I know that you can't rewrite it but it really breaks the immersion, someone who was deathly afraid of say spiders, like myself, when forced to do things like this with them even the success of one stage in a day or two would be remarkable. It seems like the actions of the Doctor would just traumatize him further.

Why don't you make this half Novalization on a version where soldiers already know what to do and the Commander give orders only when REALLY needed?
For example when the squad is under heavy fire and the Commander knows what to do.
For the rest leave them be.

Oh, long-awaited chapter, been waiting for it for a long time.
So it turns out that the viper king can take some damage, I can only imagine what the final battle with him gonna be.
And hopefully, Goblin will no longer be going to be a dick to her.
