Reviews for Reflection
WarHusky2000 chapter 37 . 7/16
Dear author I hope you're reading this lousy review. First of all, thank youvfor your dedication of publishong yoir work here in this site. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and art to us readers. It is a pleasure to read this story and was inspired to think more of the Spiritual and superstitions of my culture. I hope you're determined to finish this! I love this chapter so much; even though Chihiro's father had a heart attack, you still gave us a happy ending to this chapter. I really like how you just implement this story through flashbacks of granny Chihiro's life. I can't really say much but thank you for writing this. I'll be waiying for the next installment! Mabuhay!

Sweet babies! I like that they connect with each other in their dreams so much. Really hoping we don’t have a death on our hands. But I am really just so happy they feel so content being together when they can.

It's been a while since I read anything on this site, let alone reviewed it, but I remembered reading your story a while ago so I decided to come back to it and I don't regret it. I wanted to let you know just how much I appreciate this fic.

One reason why this fic is so effective is that it captures the spirit of the original while also doing its own take. I can totally picture this being an actual continuation of the story. Your writing is so rich and filled with imagery that is as much a part of the world as the characters, very similar to Ghibli's lush animation filling out the worlds their stories take place in. You capture the feeling of being at awe of the world, feeling like everything is so much grander than you, but also that small acts of kindness count. You have an optimistic approach to human nature, much like Ghibli's classic works. All of Chihiro's interactions give us a chance to more fully understand the people she's spending time with and she strives to see the best in them. Maybe some would call it sugar-coating reality, but that has always been something I loved about Ghibli films and I love how this fic preserves that spirit. At the same time, this fic is not without drama and conflict!

One of my favourite parts of this fic is Chihiro and Haku's relationship. It's not overdone and it's romantic and tragic which, of course, are the best kinds of relationships. (I'm just kidding, of course, please let my sweet beans be together.) My favourite parts of the fic usually involves them and not necessarily for the reasons one might think. Of course, like I mentioned, I like their relationship as a hopeless romantic, but those parts somehow manage to fill me with a deep existential sadness as well, thinking about how short and finite a human life is and how one thing stopping them from having a real relationship is time (and, obviously, difference of species, but that's more inconsequential, right?). And that's another thing this fic does so well. You manage time in a way that lets us see important snapshots of Chihiro's life without lingering too much. It really does feel like going through a photo album of an elder and listening to stories of their youth.

I know this review isn't super specific but honestly, that's because this whole fic is so good and those are just a few of the reasons! I sincerely hope you have plans to continue this. In the meantime, I want to thank you again for the few hours of enjoyment and nostalgia for my childhood spent watching Ghibli films. :)
