Great story. I had to read it twice, it was so good.

This is perfection! Omg, this is so cute! Arthur’s protectiveness and caring nature toward Merlin is so precious and heartwarming! This was really sweet and I can’t get over the fact that he feels safe in one most unsafe places on earth! This is too much, I just adore this so much, you have no idea! I especially really felt it when Arthur pointed out how Merlin has faced so many other dangers and bad people in Camelot, yet this single Lord made him so afraid and petrified! I think it also had to do with that fact that Merlin was still a child when it happened, so it really had an impact on him til this day! This is a really special fic, I just adored every single sentence! This is such a gem, Arthur is so gentle and kind! :’D

Arthur to the rescue, I love that. Makes me all warm inside. And no, Arthur doesn't always need Merlin's advice to come to the right conclussion, as you show here, but he still asks for advice anyway. :-) And of course the knights, good friends. Camelot's home to Merlin, and if anyone dares to threaten him, or Arthur, they will not get away with it. Ha!

i like this little one-shot very much. your lord and his background and motivation was well thought-out - something arthur should consider, but it wouldn't be the end of the world to deny. the way he threatened merlin - but merlin didn't back down, nor did he really get involved with influencing arthur, but only encouraged arthur to follow his own gut feeling. and the revelation of the incident to arthur was also believable - horrifying but not a stretch of logic or belief. punishment maybe deserved, but taken too far - though not torture for enjoyment, either.
and arthur (and the knights) do get in their version of justice by the end, too. so the lord gets a taste of his own medicine, kind of - if a lord can deal with a peasant like /this/, then a king can deal with a lord like /that/. :)
and the end result is, even though merlin's secret remains secret, i think he can still trust arthur to respond reasonably when the time comes, encouraged and reassured by this occasion.

I love the brotherhood between Arthur, Merlin and the knights. Also, I really like that Arthur got to learn some things about Merlin's past. And since this is about Merlin's past life in Ealdor and him feeling *safe* "in one of the least safest places on earth", I guess it also answers Arthur's question in 1x10 'The moment of truth': "Did you have any luck?" I suppose Merlin knows now the answer would be that yes, he did.

Aww! Arthur pretty much let his knights beat up the bully who hurt they're lil' brother Merlin! Awwwwww! I love the brotherlyness between Merlin, Arthur; and the knights. It's just the best bromance ever!

Okay there's totally something wrong with my mind, because when Merlin paused to smile at the stocks, I kinda pictured him as sorta...flerting, with them. 'Heya, stocks. Haven't seen much of ya 'round lately. How you doin'?'

Ah moving on now Arthur is so my favourite prat ever.
