Guest chapter 85 . 7/17
Very interesting turn of events
0vrLrd71 chapter 8 . 7/19
honestly, are you just trying to make Greg into a masochists?
0vrLrd71 chapter 6 . 7/19
wouldn't observing the book give some basic info on it so at least he has something to go on?

why does at the end of this one say 9 and then -10 and last chapter it was -9? typo? or is this because of AD? though I think 90% reduction is a lot... maybe it would have been better if it was like the hybrid one and makes it harder to earn instead of reducing everything by a percentage... same for Wis, is this like a way to keep him from going on the mage route? that sucks
0vrLrd71 chapter 5 . 7/19
Damn, it sucks, usually gamers don't really get tired... or sleep, or need to eat, but I guess every other usually had their one Game don't they? I mean considering it looks like it makes it harder to make skills, yeah...

though your author note does justify will... mhm..
0vrLrd71 chapter 2 . 7/19
2 stat points for a level up? usually if there's 6 stats you either get 5 stat points or just one with the added bonus of all your other stats getting increased without your input... damn this sucks

the Wis? yeah that makes sense considering what I know about him from wiki and worm... though this is pretty much an OC since you'll pretty much shape him as you like
0vrLrd71 chapter 1 . 7/19
Just for those who want to know who Greg is... if your too lazy to look it up, though I think it's useless by this time already

"In the social sense, Greg is like a car with bald tires. No brakes, skids like hell. He takes a topic, he runs with it, and faced with an obstacle or problem he takes far too long to 'get it' and actually stop or change direction, even after other people would've just realized they can't or shouldn't move forward.

In relationships with people, with things like Parahumans Online, he makes assumptions and runs with them. This combined with his social sense means that he tends to push and situate himself uncomfortably when it comes to boundaries and rules. Forum rules with PHO, school rules, social groups and class teamwork.

He's super passionate about things, and throws himself into them headlong, again with bald tires. He has a game he likes and he puts fifty to a hundred hours into it in the course of a week. Can be a movie, tv show. Unable to muster the right language to convey why he's so passionate about these things, he just doubles down. In short, there's no quality to what he's saying, only quantity, and in delivering that quantity, he pulls from stuff he's read and videos he's watched and other things from his obsessive following of the FotM passion and doesn't convey a consistent narrative. Verbal diarrhea.

A good way to represent Greg's emotional landscape would be to double his emotions. He's not just excited, he's double excitedvibrating with anticipation. He's not just upset, he's double upsethe's crestfallen, destroyed. It's not that he's actually experiencing double the emotion, it's just that the filters and barriers aren't there. He never learned how to hold back or express anything but the absoluteness of what he feels and experiences, and he likes to experience things absolutely.

In taking all of these things, applying them to non-cape life, I would say that he's the type to fall in love a little with any girl he spends more than a few minutes with. He will obsess over cape stuff, but run away with assumptions about how things are or should be, or about what he's dealing with. He believes in labels and celebrates them, often in the sense of being a gamer or otaku. He's emotionally immature, and him finding emotional maturity would be a solid character arc for a story featuring him.

I would gently suggest that making him angry would be the wrong direction, and would point out that he's not actually friends with Sparky, and wouldn't be (well, he'd try, but... no, he wouldn't end up being friends with Sparky). Greg is a puppy given human form. It takes a monumental amount to turn a puppy into something snarling, aggressive, and angry, and in creating that personality, you destroy the puppyness of the puppy. Far more likely to be fearful and retreat/withdraw. WOG from Wildbow on Greg's personality"

Though if he got gamers mind he would be a lot more tame... but the chapter makes me think otherwise..

That last guy who's review you replied to at the end of the chapter was funny. How are they complaining about the fic taking a darker turn when its a worm fic?
AMurder0fCrows chapter 50 . 7/18

omg your such a good writer! feel proud of yourself! bask in my compliments. I'm already feeling like I can enjoy this. your writing is something i look for in every fnafiction I come across and you've done it flawlessly! its ridiculously easy to just tune into the story and see things play out. I'm happy to have found this gem (because I can tell already) while on spacebattles for worm fics. 10/10 will continue reading and probably download.

I kid you not, this was my first thought after greg had his conversation with his mom...
'why do I feel like she's going to die?'...

I was pretty certain that either sparky, susan or emma would die and greg would be unable to save them. Its pretty predictable, lots of people do it to develop the character of the mc. I thought emma was the one on the chopping block couple chapters back, but after such an emotional scenario for the mc I was ready for shit to go down. And oh boy am I excited.. Guess greg would loose some of cocky and carefree attitude, eh? Don't mind it, it was getting kinda annoying tbh..
Flamingp0tat0 chapter 57 . 7/17
You know it would've been interesting if his dragon related traits gave him a negative effect that dragons typically have, like being more greedy, prideful or angry etc. Not anything that would affect his character too much but enough that its annoying.
Flamingp0tat0 chapter 42 . 7/17
Holy fucking shit... That was a nice boss fight. Very well written. Also that is a power up and a half. To be honest, I didn't think he would be able to complete both missions. Save taylor? Yes, that's doable but actually winning? The funny thing is its not even that illogical as an rpg character, if you have the right build and items you can take down enemies and bosses who are higher level than you quite easily. I think that boss fight deserves another round of applause. Seriously dude, fantastic job. The new traits are cool too.
Flamingp0tat0 chapter 24 . 7/17
Every character with gamer powers should have a friend like sparky.
ZhaWarudo chapter 85 . 7/17
As I said, I don't remember. It's been a while since you updated(nothing wrong with that, you got your life) so I ranted because the chapter didn't make sense to me.
FuzzyBoots chapter 85 . 7/17
I recently reread the story from the beginning. Got bored, needed to distract myself from reality, decided to jump into it. I like how this story is using Sparky as a yardstick for just how much Greg is changing. It could be mistaken for maturation, both physically and mentally, but more and more, I feel like what you're aiming at is that, as Spark is noticing, Greg's power is turning him into a completely different person, or maybe even replacing the person that he is whether he wants it or not. And, well, to some degree that's just maturation writ large, but it also seems to push Greg further towards the horrifying eldritch thing that is a game protagonist. The Observe power has been hinting for some time that the people he beats up and kills often aren't serving the bad guys entirely out of their own free will, his Gamer's Mind keeps him thinking too hard about the death and destruction in his life (I'm still wondering if it's that, or a general psychological defense, that has kept him from thinking about Emma), and his successful sincerity with Sparky feels very much like the subtle mind control of game usage of Charisma where if you choose the right conversation options, you're guaranteed to overrule someone's personal decisions (it's kind of reminding me of a half-baked LitRPG book I started on for NaNoWriMo where someone got the ability to treat dating like a dating sim and his eventual realization that what he was doing wasn't far from rape since the girls he was after had little choice once the system latched onto them).

Side note, it's an interesting question as to whether this is a Worm power, or something external. I mean, it's obviously driving him into conflict, and transforming the world around him, but it still feels very mechanical compared to the usual setup, his power seems unusually broad compared to most, and as was noted at PRT, he lacks a lot of the physical markers.
