I found this story at exactly the right timebeach vacation. Of course, I'm writing this review on the way home in the car after being chased away by a hurricane, but eh...I digress. I just felt that the timing was fun.

Anyway, if this ever gets published I would love to purchase a copy. I thought that you treated the characters in a complex way that was both similar to their original counterparts and also different, like they evolved from P&P rather than being copied directly from it. This is what good fanfiction does. I thought you also struck a good balance between Lizi (cute spelling, btw) and Darcy's flaws and positive qualities; they were certainly messed up at times, yet I still found them sympathetic. You mentioned in several ANs that some of your readers found Darcy to be irredeemable, but I was confused by that; he was hardly perfect when Austen created him and he's now one of the most beloved literary characters in existence (as proven by the fact that this story and review exist at all).

I also liked how you modernized the original and didn't feel completely beholden to the Austen timeline. I just ADORE modern variations, but I sometimes feel like their authors try too hard to make everything fit exactly right. They forget that one of the main points of fanfiction is to make changes and explore possibilities. I applaud you for taking the chance to do what's best for your plot rather than simply following the recipe.

This story DOES need some editing for punctuation and other random things, but the flow is there and the dialogue is believable. All the hard elements are working well; it just needs a touch of polish.

I think your brain tumour idea is excellent. Most modern PP stories I have read have Lizi's mother trying to marry her daughters off to rich husbands, which is so peculiar in the 21st century and, frankly, idiotic in a modern story.

Well ,having called Darcy a sleaze ball in my earlier post (man you did a job on him) i'm very impressed with your redemption of him. Masterful. And he's a virgin! LOL

i'm afraid your darcy is coming over as a complete sleaze ball. His proposition was in such bad taste. I can't imagine what the innocent interpretation of his behaviour will be. Great story!
