Reviews for While The Parents Are Away
Monkeydog227 chapter 12 . 7/17
Can you do a little side story of Toph and Katara getting captured I just wanna know how that happened.
woopgabbywoop chapter 12 . 6/29
Wonderful! Pls dont stop writing! These are all amazing!
Pidgeapodge chapter 10 . 5/26
I thought that conversation between Zuko and Azula was very nicely done! And it's nice to see that Zuko is still the awkward ball of sweet that we all have grown to love :)
Pidgeapodge chapter 5 . 5/26
I like how the Earth King just doesn't say anything as they are flying away from the scene. He's just like, "This seems personal, I shouldn't interrupt."

I'm assuming this is still Earth King Kuei, since he's referred to as "King," and he's succeeded by his daughter in Korra.
Noyanishi chapter 12 . 5/12
"Friends you can get rid of if they annoy you. We're more like family, you see."

That is the most wholesome and most Sokka-ist quote i've ever heard.
Srw chapter 12 . 12/21/2019
Thank you for the story
Guest chapter 12 . 4/15/2019
Hey, I'm yukifrill from instagram (the one who commented on your post about this fanfic a few days ago) and I'm here to fulfill my promise to drop a review :)

Fasten your seat belt because this is about to be a lengthy review. I hate myself for not reviewing on each chapter and instead, cramp everything into this one review. I wanted to review while I progress but reviewing on phone was hard and I had to open my laptop to write this review :(

Firstly, I want to express my displeasure with how little recognition this story gets. 10 reviews, 19 favorites and 15 follows? This story deserves ten times of those numbers!
I don't read many ATLA or LoK fanfics because what I look in fanfics are hard to find but I find everything here in your story, packed into one beautifully-written adventure that hits home. The balance between seriousness and humor in this story sends me through a nostalgia of what ATLA showed me in my childhood. I love every scene in this story and not once had I gotten bored because every scene just seems important. I can also tell how much thought you put into everyone's character and their arcs as well as their developments throughout this story alone. If I had any complaint, it would be some occasional typos and lack of descriptive paragraphs but none of those bother me much because the genuinely interesting point of views this story provided. Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful masterpiece with us because the three nights I spend reading this story were superb! You took me on an unforgettable adventure :)

But that's not the end of this review! I want to point out my favorite parts of the story (there are too many so I might miss some).
Firstly, I love your dialogues as they're very colorful and unique to each and every one of the characters. I love how you portray everyone and I have to say, accurately, except for Izumi as we barely know anything about her from the show, but I'll be using your version of young Izumi as my headcanon from now on because I love her so much :") I love how you develop her relationship with Bumi as well! Truthfully, I prefer their initial relationship where Bumi took the role of the protective older brother to the timid Izumi, but I have no complaint about their current predicament.
Aside from Bumi and Izumi, my favorite development would be between Toph and Lin. I could be a little biased as the Beifongs are my all-time favorite characters in the Avatar series. I love how you portray their love-hate(?) relationship realistically because I know people in real life with the same dynamic with their parents. The little earthquake that indicates the Beifongs approaching never failed to make me laugh! And seeing Toph getting furious with Azula after Lin's outburst made me feel some type of way. And when Lin found Toph crying alone? I cried too :")
I have a lot of favorite scenes (especially nearing the end when everyone kept exposing secrets I had tears in my eyes from laughing too much) but my utmost favorite scene is when they freed Sokka out of the prison and Toph rejecting his hug. That was too adorable it's unfair what-

I still have so many things to say but you're probably already dying at this point so I'll conclude the review here. Lin's constant need to prove her worth, Tenzin's internal struggle about being his dad's only hope, Su's feeling neglected, Bumi's insecurity about being the only non-bender in the family, Kya's pressure to stay cheerful to hold everyone up, Izumi's fear of her own power. You make me want an official series covering this timeline even more than I already do! These children need their own series, I swear! Or they could animate your story into a two-hour special and I'd be the first one to go nuts over it!

Also, you cannot imagine how relieved I was when I saw that you have a sequel for this story because I'm flying over to read it now. See you there ;)
JHLZ.NTL chapter 12 . 5/31/2018
This was adorable! I love how the Beifongs make earthquakes susbconsciously with their constant bickering and tension. Very clever with Su's more precise and careful metalbending with making the little orb into a key versus just striking the lock. And I love how you handled a grown Azula. I love this portrayal of the Gaang's children!
The book manager chapter 1 . 4/14/2018

Broadwaylover56 chapter 12 . 4/14/2018
I absolutely love this story and I love your interpretation of the kids when they're young. Please write similar stories! You do a great job!
SwordGold chapter 11 . 4/1/2018
Hey! Thanks for mentioning me btw (Honestly it made me blush) :)
You've expressed the personality of each character throughout your entire story really well and explored some of the struggles that the kids of such legends have to deal with. It's sad that this story is ending soon but I really hope you continue writing for all of our sakes because you have a real talent that not many of us other fans have and that is to bring characters to life.
Quick question, I know that you explored Toph and Sokka's relationship but I was wondering where Suki has been in all of this? Also I would just like to add that I really adore what you've done with Azula and Zari; them putting on brave faces for each other really adds another dimension to their relationship as mother and son you know? Anyway, I can't wait to hear what happens next in this amazing adventure! - SG
SwordGold chapter 10 . 3/25/2018
OMG Love it soooo much! The way you delve into Azula's problems is so moving that this fanfiction is actually making me like her. I hope to see more chapters really, really soon! xox - SG
SwordGold chapter 4 . 3/24/2018
Also where's Zuko's other son Iroh? I'm assuming that he's not born yet? Oooh I'm so excited!
SwordGold chapter 2 . 3/24/2018
This is amazing so far! I can't wait to see where it goes next!
