Reviews for The Last Couple on Earth
dogbertcarroll chapter 1 . 2/14
I like it. Thank you.
dude356 chapter 1 . 12/22/2019
It's an interesting idea to think about, Ron's broken wand in 2nd year being the catalyst for his downward spiral. He was already dealing with feeling overlooked by his family and overshadowed by Harry, then his wand broke and nobody took the initiative to get it replaced, so he got stuck with a taped together wand for an entire school year.

Dumbledore could have repaired the wand with the Elder wand, but he probably didn't want that knowledge getting out. One of his teachers, any of his teachers, could have done something about it. He couldn't have been the first (financially) poor kid in Hogwarts history to have broken his wand. I can't help but think that there had to be some sort of emergency fund they could have tapped into to get him a new one. That had to be better than watching him struggle in their classes. Then again, this is the staff of Hogwarts we're talking about.

I generally have no sympathy for Ron, but just like with Ginny, nobody noticed or seemed to care that something was wrong, or they just thought that he brought it on himself and it would be a deserved punishment to let him work with a malfunctioning wand. If the teachers at your school don't care enough about your education at the very least or, in Ginny's case, your well-being at the very worst, why should you put any effort into caring about what they have to teach you? Like I said, it's an interesting idea to think about and not one that I've seen addressed before.

Fascinating premise. Thanks
Diaspared chapter 1 . 7/24/2019
Harry's 2nd year probably wasn't much better than Ron's. frankly.

Functioning wand, yes, but Dobby was hanging over his head, half the school was terrified of him, and his best friend ended up petrified, all leading up to his having to kill a soul-memory and a thousand-year-old snake, with a sword.

Snaperipper chapter 1 . 1/8/2019
very cool. I really enjoyed this story and I would love to see the results. Great job!
Love2read23 chapter 1 . 7/21/2018
Wow! This is really good. A look at the changes that made would be awesome but this idea is so good and you wrote it really well. Thanks for writing.
Guest chapter 1 . 7/18/2018
Very intriguing.
Madminxx chapter 1 . 7/4/2018
That was a fascinating idea. I'd never thought about the difference 2nd year without a wand must have made to Ron. First year Ron wanted to be head-boy, I never quite understood how all that ambition withered away into apathy. I think I'm adding this to my head-canon.
kurolothgarian chapter 1 . 6/27/2018
Now I want an epilogue. Doesn't mean I'll get one, but I still want one.
tyrannicpuppy chapter 1 . 4/2/2018
That was really good. A brilliant what if idea.
ALRYM chapter 1 . 3/24/2018
Nice idea. Really nice - that got me thinking... I think, I actually never considered how bad that experience might have been for Ron.
bookivore chapter 1 . 3/9/2018
The other way you can send information to the past that changes how the past runs is if you are very uncertain about the current present (possibly because people are always withholding information and/or lying and your exposure to the world is very limited) yet you are not only convinced that things need to be fixed but that you are a person capable of changing the world. In other words, they were raising Harry to travel in time.
MagentaMusings chapter 1 . 3/4/2018
An excellent one shot that I do kind of hope eventually becomes part of an excellent longer fic
madbrad chapter 1 . 2/25/2018
Wow, this short tale is made of several wins.

- It turned out, the universe didn't mind the future telling the past what the past already knew.

Brilliant. Had my mind churning. Unfortunately the very next line capsized my assumptions as to where this was going -

- Maybe you couldn't send a soul to the past, or, for example, tell your past self the location of Voldemort's horcuxes.

Oh. I was thinking that, since 'the past already knew' about the horcruxes - Riddle knew where they were, after all - Time would therefore allow that information to be disclosed to others. Rats.

- Except they both loved the bloke -

A nice reminder that the Trio existed for a reason. Something that particularly shone in the earlier books IMO.

- Coming to class and your wand not working was literally a common nightmare Hogwarts students had, and Ron had lived it for a year.

What a great idea! (And an excellent sop to Ron lovers. :-))

- His preaching likely enough hadn't done any good, but he'd delayed them long enough, and that was what was important.

Heh, the actual goal was tangential to the information transfer. Fooled me! Great.

I looked at your profile ... what is 'ESL' please? Just curious.
