I love this
meg527 chapter 1 . 4/26/2019
This is a fabulous story! I've read several hundred SS fanfic stories and this is beautifully unique and wonderfully written. Thank you!
Dee chapter 1 . 3/24/2019
I love this fic.. Somewhat sad and it stays true to their characters.. I saw that its not complete though so looking forward to the next part.. I was actually thinking that the other cursebreaker Severus recommended could be explored.. Maybe Severus was recommending him as a partner in a subtle way..
DragonIris chapter 1 . 11/21/2018
This was unique (I think; I read almost exclusively SS/HG as a romantic pairing) and charming. The only thing I dislike is the shade thrown at Dumbledore. It has nothing at all to do with your writing. It’s apparently a view few share with me or maybe I run into AD bashing a lot because I favor fics that feature SS as alive and vindicated.

JKR obviously intended AD to stay a hero in her story, not to mention the Potters and to an extent, Sirius Black but in too many of the fics I read, AD is a dastardly megalomaniac, James evil and Lily either a bitch, a slut, or both. Sirius’ main flaws were that he never apologized to Snape for leading him to a werewolf nor his general bullying of him. He continued his behavior as an adult but that may be because their reunion as adults involved Snape planning to have his soul sucked out, regardless of his possible innocence regarding betraying the Potters. As for James, JK made it clear he had changed and that Lily wouldn’t have had anything to do with him if he hadn’t. As for Lily, that is the most ridiculous maltreatment of all. Lily could have no more forced herself to fall in love with Severus than she could have prevented him from falling in love with her. Even if she could have done so, she shouldn’t have been expected to do it. She had as much right as anyone else to honor her feelings for the person she fell in love with. Nor did she have any romantic obligation to Severus, regardless of how strongly he felt for her. I wonder if people realize/remember that although we can definitely choose to nurture care into love, we have absolutely NO control over who we fall in love with or why. There is a huge difference. All initial emotions are reactions, not anything we consciously choose. We can choose how to proceed with our emotional response but we can’t manufacture it out of nothing, not even a strong will. Even the limited things we can do, like shifting emotions with stimuli like comedy or music, are a matter of manipulating existing sensory responses or memories. We don’t know how or why it happens, let alone how or if they can be completely manufactured.

As for Albus Dumbledore, JK had Dumbledore ask Severus if he understood that he was doing Dumbledore a kindness by preventing the DE from getting a hold of him to torture. Dumbledore asked Severus if he could see it this way and not as murder which would be vital in preventing Severus’ soul from being torn. Severus nodded yes. I’m sure it was still difficult, as even watching someone die would be, but it wasn’t a forced murder as so many authors rail against it as. Am I the only one that sees this this way and sees it as significant? I admit I haven’t researched Rowling’s thoughts on this post-series but I can’t imagine she foresaw anyone seeing it as Dumbledore forcing Snape to commit murder. For it to even be murder, it would have to be against the will of the person dying and as AD actually requested it... I have never been afraid of dying and don’t really understand why anyone would. It’s either oblivion ( and you don’t experience oblivion ). If you believe in the possibility of eternal punishment, it really won’t matter how long you’ve been there after a point, so the fact of it being eternal, is meaningless. Maybe these views seriously skews my perception.

Tisa chapter 1 . 5/19/2018
Well done! One of the best stories I've read lately. Knowing Snape had something good in his life leaves me with such a good feeling, even though he could not show it or let anyone know about it. I like the idea that Snape's life in the books seemed so utterly miserable only because we were not privy to the brighter, better parts of it.

Snape and Hermione really do have a very similar temper. I have never thought about it, but it was very clever of you to make that connection. This shared trait (among others) gives credibility to your story, which is well thought-out, plausible and entirely consistent. I also love how you wrote the characters. They really are true to the books and so well written.

Lovely.
