Thank you so much for this fix! I figured Gabriel surely had to come back, but I'd rather read it where he never walked back out to begin with... But I love that in this version, he fights for Cas when he can't find anything else to fight for! First to protect him from Asmodeus, and then when he says he'll stay and help his little brother (and Jack).

I like your ending better. I was so disappointed when Gabriel left...AGAIN! Sam and Cas fought to save him from Asmodeus, even though they weren't strong enough to overpower him, they tried. Gabriel has lived the easy life, then the tortured one, and now he has a chance to do the right thing. How can he not join Team Free Will? Especially with Sam's sorrowful look? lol

Awww. THIS is how I wanted that episode to go. I wanted more brotherly caring, and I wanted Gabriel to stay. I wanted FAMILY, however complicated that may be, and that's what this story delivered.

Lol it really is hard to avoid angst when writing tags for that ep. I enjoyed this one a lot though. I like how you kind of extended it, (and of course added a little more whump :P) And had Gabriel embrace the redemption arc ;) Although I have the feeling he'll come around in the show, it was nice to see him stick with them now. I also liked your depictions of Sam and Cas' inner thoughts here because I think they were spot on to how I pictured them feeling about Gabe's return, especially Cas having unresolved issues with his brother because Gabe essentially did the same thing twice. But yes, awesome tag :) Thanks for sharing!

As usual, beautifully written. You are spot on with your characterization, and how you combined episode dialogue with the characters’ internal dialogue and emotions. It’s always a pleasure to get a new story notification from you.

First off, I was pleasantly surprised you had posted any story today ... I hope that means that you're feeling better.

I definitely loved this version much better than the episode because Castiel was in it more (*I* would've thought canon Asmodeus would've been a bit pissier with Castiel after he and Luci escaped and would've mentioned something to him at the Bunker but we saw how that played out), the selfish flea Gabriel didn't run away, and there were brotherly moments between Cas and Gabe. I loved your characterization and dialogue, as usual. I loved the last two lines and as much as I love Gabe's canon comment about Asmodeus's "dumbass suit", I loved *your* "'... Michael's douche-ier evil counterpart ...'" best of all - it had me rolling on the floor laughing. Best line ever! :)
