badgerlady chapter 1 . 5/3/2018 Oh, yes, more, please. This is too excellent a start not to be continued. One niggle: Harry "lies" on his bed. He doesn't "lay" on it (in the present tense) and nor do Poppy or Arthur, unless they're extruding eggs from their bodies. "Lay" is properly used of a person in the past tense (as in "his son lay"); in the present, it can only be used for an object, as in "he lays the book on the table." Sorry to run on so, but you're too good a writer not to get that common confusion straightened out. Besides, I'm a retired copy editor with too much time on my hands; I have to torture *someone*. |
