What an interesting story!

I don't usually like stories that end with E & D's deaths but i find your ending a lot less depressing than most, and almost lovely.

Your stories always get me very excited, I just can't help myself. Also I just found myself doing something horrible. I have been a big fan of Jane Austen for a very long time and learned the word "vexing" thank's to her, but I have never used it... until now. English is not my first language so I find myself quite often searching for the meaning of words, but no so to make me stop reading, because I understand basically everything or at least can guess the meaning. But with your writing I have found that I can truly enjoy it only when I understand everything perfectly, and so having searched words for a long period of time today already, and I was at this particularly good part of the book, I suddenly shouted "Oh, this is so vexing!" instead of my usual use of "frustrating" or "annoying". Oh the horror when I understood what I had said. Mrs Bennet and your books have rubbed off on me. :'D

This ship sailed and landed a while ago but... here's my opinion anyway.

I think a clear rape trigger warning would be a compassionate choice. Story time: I personally am very unhinged by horror/gore media and always avoid it at all costs. I recently found an awesome YouTube channel on movie analysis and really love watching it. However, there have been several episodes now where they use short clips of MATURE material to make a point in their analysis of an unrelated genre and it really unnerves me. I really wish they would put a little warning somewhere, and my own aversion to gore is, I think, less serious than the topic of discussion.

Returning to your question, I think this particular topic is touchy enough to enough people that the possible spoiler damage is less than the guaranteed trauma damage, seeing as 1 in 5 women are sexually abused. I think it's possible to put a trigger warning without spoiling the story. Readers can guess at the particulars but you really don't know unless you read the story.

My two cents.

And I really am enjoying your stories!

Just got around to reading this one while taking a short break from my next chapter. Loved it. Yes, the subject was difficult, but the format made it digestible. Thanks for posting it.

By the way, I wrote a short FF story (from memory it was maybe 2000 words) that was all dialogue, as a challenge a while ago. It was quite hard to do!

By the way, I suppose it’s deliberate, but I think I have skipped reading this in the past because the description implies it might not be a Darcy- Elizabeth story. Or more particularly, that it may be a Darcy-someone else story.

I liked it.
The all dialogue style *is* more effort to read, sometimes parsing out just who was speaking to whom was difficult, but overall it worked.
It’s also, contrarily, quick to read. I don’t suppose the words are read anymore quickly, but without all the extra words it feels like a bit of a speed read, which is exactly what I was after.

I do find, although the subject matter is angsty, being all dialogue stops it from feeling particularly angsty. I’m sure you could have had me sobbing (it’s not hard!) with this sane plot, at various times, but with no descriptions of anyone’s tears, feelings, thoughts... I feel a little more distanced from the characters, I think.

Also, I think you did very well with the sense ambiguity. To be happy, sad, angry, all about the same event, is very real, and probably an essential and unavoidable part of life.

From the simple, being heart broken my boyfriend dumped me to being in love with someone else... to the more complex, traumatic life events formed me into the person that could (whatever it might be).

So yeah, but thought you captured that well, especially for Emma, who, as she says, was both right and wrong, from her first moment in life.

I love the acknowledgement here that she would never trade her 15 years with Emma fur anything, and yet it doesn’t make what happenedany if itokay.

That was magnificent. My favourite of all your stories - and I love your stories. I love how you experiment with different styles, and this particular style (dialogue only) is a real winner for me, son of an actress that I am (playreading was a way of life in my childhood). And the themes. Damn. Just brilliant. Thank you so much for giving Elizabeth such a fulfilling life despite her pain. Loved it.
