Reviews for Calming Sea
Muzuki-chan chapter 11 . 7/20/2019
Hello! I was just about to read the newest chapter, and I know that maybe! This shouldn't be the first thing I open up with, but I just wanted to say that I got the notification that this was updated and I was struck in how I had lost track of time because I was still in the middle of writing my review for chapter seven LMAO which is like, fam really? sdoifnsf especially since I was still...writing it in January and then school kept getting in the way OTL

But I also just wanted to say that I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's death and that you dealt with a rough time. I'm really glad that you took time off to take care of yourself, but I'm still hoping and wanting to let you know that it's okay if you need more time off and that I hope you have a supportive group of friends that you can turn to after such a rough event. Your mental health always comes first, beloved author, so whatever you need whether it be more time or anything else, I just want you to be happy and okay!

and also, I was just about to catch up instead with all the chapters because as much as I want to think about it, I've been cucking myself for far too long in not letting myself read the newest chapter until I left the comment I wanted to write on chapter seven, but then I realized what you had written in the summary for this story. I'm a little sad that this wonderful story is going to be discontinued and deleted - but I just want to say that no matter how I feel, I'll fully support you on whatever you decide to do with this story!

And besides, just because you delete this one doesn't mean I'm never going to see your writing again LMAO I can always follow you to whatever story you're going to continue or write next! So whatever you do, I'll be fully behind you and join you as a reader to whatever writing you want to do next! Unless you don't want to write then...I'll just weep LMFAO but, whatever you chose to do I'll back you up! Sorry if my comment is a lil incoherent tho sdofin I don't know how to english today lmaO sodifnsdf

moeza chapter 10 . 1/22/2019
The changes are surprising, because i remember the story has already reached to ch 13 or something XD
But i prefer this version than previous one, because more shizaya and i think izaya's character was more fleshed out than before. Great job!
Naliyu chapter 10 . 1/22/2019
Oh I assure you I got attached
SpaceyGaze chapter 10 . 1/18/2019
I like and appreciate this version of the story better. A big thumbs up to all your efforts.
Muzuki-chan chapter 6 . 1/12/2019
Lowkey gotta admit that I forgot I was supposed to be writing a comment and was about to just skip to reading the next chapter until I remembered LMAO.

But anyways, I am back with my too long commentary that are very boring and is just really me going “I love this” over and over again ahahaha~ Though getting back into the mood of focusing on the things I want to say, I really do like this chapter for different reasons in comparison to the last one. Though I think I’ll try to go in chronological order of things that I like in this chapter so that I don’t go crazy and go off the rails to the point the everything I say makes no sense lmaooo.

So starting off with the beginning, because time has certainly passed and the details of what happened to the opposing ship and it’s former crew is brought up to be told of what happened and such more. And honestly, I also want to add in that I really enjoyed how Izaya requested Kadota to get him something red, and with Shizuo overhearing it, gave Izaya a red satin collar. Especially these lines that come after: “Soft against his skin, bringing out the crimson of his eyes Izaya wished it didn’t make him feel hot. A mark staking claim over each other.” Though I also want to note that I especially like the lines that came before it as well, and especially this one too: “A gift from Shizuo with the note stating if he wanted it so badly he had just to ask. It also stated bluntly that if Izaya had any needs he only need to open his mouth.” LMAO god, I really love the relationship you’re building between these two characters. And even more so when Shinra comes in, and it brings more light to the rising sexual tension between them both, and how Izaya remarks that Shizuo has the eyes of a starving man. OOF, gosh, it’s so good — I honestly can’t even explain but, I ship them so much and I’m really just, loving what you’re doing with them ahaha~

But being a bit more serious—if that’s even possible for me LMAO—I do like the fact that the topic of Izaya’s is brought in again. Even if it is mixed with dialogue circulating around Shizuo during the conversation between Izaya and Shinra, I think it’s really good to bring the sister’s back in place because….I mean, they were Izaya’s sisters, and with the information that we have, Izaya cared a lot for his sisters and wanted them to have good lives. But since Izaya isn’t back home with them anymore and is in a way, free, there isn’t really any supporting evidence that as of now the twins are in at least a financially stable place, even though Izaya does add in that Marvin or the bishop might be taking care of them, but he can’t say for sure. Which thus leads to Izaya actually becoming part of the crew, becoming a pirate, for the sake of his sisters. And so I actually do have, I guess you can say it’s a sort of selfish hope that Izaya will eventually go back to see his sisters. Because in a way, I feel like there is some hardship in leaving your family that you’ve worked so hard to support, loved, and cared for, behind and just venture out—the then again, I can understand why Izaya can’t really be moping around about it for several chapters, since things are always moving forward lmfao. But I guess all in all my thoughts are really just me wondering if later in the future chapters if Izaya is actually going to come back to his sisters, and wondering what will happen then. Because I’m sure by then that Izaya and Shizuo definitely don’t want to leave each other, and they’ve overcome some hardships, but then there’s also the fact that his sister wouldn’t know Shizuo that well and they’re just only left with either what the Baron may have told them of what happened - or what they saw what happened. Makes me wonder a lot of what can happen in the future I suppose ahaha~

Continuing on from that, gosh I really adore the way how Shizuo got excited on Izaya finally joining the crew, and the way that Izaya reassures Shizuo by touching his face and how it ends with these sentences: “He had so definitely done so, and gently as if he were Shizuo’s beloved. He might as well have been.” oMG, just, god okay I love that so very much and if I could, I would honestly weep about it because it’s just so, so very soft. And it really just turns that sexual tension rising between them into something more soft, more loving instead of just the fact that what they originally felt between them was just lust. Though I also want to tell you that I absolutely had another good laugh at kira saying, “What part of you ispossessed enough to call him Shizu-chan?” LMFAO. Because honestly, it’s so very easy to forget that Shizuo is someone fearful on this ship to some of the crew members, even though we’re seeing this from Izaya’s point of view of where we see this man who’s flirtatious and lustful, wanting with desire to bed Izaya while also being kind and generous ahahaha~

And of course, you know me, I’m horribly in love with these details that sometimes pop out at me, and this whole paragraph especially: “He flashed them another handsome grin, before taking a bite of the porridge…most of the scraps had an ugly green color, which Izaya decided to avoid touching.” But I especially like the part of what Izaya takes a bit and just hopes that it’s apple LMAO because I’m sure we’ve all been there where we eat something that looks ominous and suspicious, and we end up with something crunchy in our teeth even though the food profile is soft and creamy. Like eating a dense cheesecake but finding something random and hard that makes you sweat, or! Or like eating a oreo and hoping to god that there’s not a spider in it or something LMAO. OKay, now I’m just talking out of my ass so sdofnsdf

But it was really cute in the way of how all the girls got excited in receiving the news that Izaya had joined the Dollars and that they immediately jumped into make a cake for the celebration ahaha~ It was really sweet of them, but I don’t blame Izaya at all in wanting to escape from that fiasco. Though we finally get to meet Celty! Though her name isn’t really introduced yet but – gosh I just love that whole scene ahaha~

With Izaya and Shinra talking to each other in french and Shizuo trying to translate it in his head, and of course, Izaya asking if this would be a loophole to call Shizuo a neanderthal to his face sdfghjk. Though I also want to point out that I love the way you bring tension back into this scene by having Izaya question Shizuo’s eyes, and then deplete back down by having Izaya turn that situation back to it’s original light-hearted scene when Izaya and Shizuo get back to lowkey flirting with each other. But I really do like it, with the ever climbing questions of Izaya comparing Shizuo to Golden Eye, and or course Izaya poking the sleeping bear by mention the strangeness of Shizuo’s eyes—even though like Shinra said, izaya is the one who’s got the strange eye coloration ahaha~

And also, the love confession afterwards is cute, 10/10 makes my heart swoon and find it really nice ahahah~ But also, I feel like my comments are not reaching their full potential, but maybe that’s just me—perhaps I’m feeling sleepy but who knows! I’ll try to keep commenting on more chapters tonight, but if not then I probably fell asleep ahaha~ So I guess either way, I’ll see ya at my comment for the next chapter then!
Muzuki-chan chapter 5 . 1/11/2019
Now onto the fifth chap! But also I just want you to know that in the last chapter I was talking out of my ass about Izaya and his plans, completely forgetting that it was discussed in this chapter and I’m, absolutely flashed and hoping that you run me over with a car LMFAO. But also, god I forgot how much that the first time I read this chapter I was, absolutely, head over heels in love with this chapter so much and I’ll be sure to explain it but I’m typing this up as I read again and sdfghjkl I very much enjoyed this chapter and wanted you to know that

Okay, okay, seriously going to leave an actual and hopefully coherent review other than me just crying over how much I loved this chapter the first time around when I read it. But god seriously I just really love this chapter and I almost want to skip all to my favorite parts, partly because I’m selfish like that and on the other hand to give you a rest from me saying stupid shit lmAO but I’m sincerely in love with everything so much….From the opening of Shizuo walking in to the conversation that rode high on tension and lust between Shizuo and Izaya. And to comment more on that, I have to admit that I felt my ears go hot at the way of how Shizuo rolled up a fag and used Izaya’s tongue. I was, practically dying - though I also want to admit how much I’m also in love with this sentence as well: “What did you think I was going to do to you? I rescued you twice, now you owe me your life.” And I’m, I’m in so much love with it oh my god I’m so sorry that I’m going to sound like a broken recorder on repeat as I go throughout this whole chapter pointing out the things I like LMAO

BUT but but but okay gotdamn I need, to get myself together but, this line you absolutely slaughtered me with again as I’m re-reading it over as if it’s the first time but this whole thing:
“ “Maybe, I realized my men were out of line, but we are pirates… It’s not uncommon, so maybe I realized you were just as interested in me… As sinful as it is… Maybe I wanted you first.”

Something unnamed spike through Izaya. His face turned hot, it took everything to make it stop turning red. He even averted his gaze, yet still he could feel those golden eyes stare through him.

“You’ve been an interest to me.” His breath, hot and sultry, landed on Izaya’s ear. He nearly jumped for he had gotten too close again. “From the moment you eyes locked mine at that game table where you were intending to have me hung… I-za-ya.”

Aphrodisia was call them as as a siren from the sea. “

Like, god I cannot explain how much I love the tension you wrapped in this scene like a fucking gift; shimmering wrapping paper and a silky ribbon to top it all off, oof boy I’ve been fed so well with this and I’m so incoherent but I just—I just want you to that this was absolutely among my very favorite scenes and *kisses fingers* I’m doing my utmost best to send you the best compliments because I really, dearly loved this scene a lot ahaha~

And then continuing on from here, there’s just so many things that I like about it. From Shizuo shooing Izaya away and Izay conjuring up thoughts of how that scene between them earlier could have been played out differently if he had chosen to react differently to certain things - god, I just love it so much, especially with how it abruptly comes to a stop with, “fantasies were an immature thing.”

I also really like the way of how Izaya brings up the fact that he’s noticed Tom is giving him a practiced speech because of other recruits asking the same question, though the biggest difference being the others are recruits and Izaya is someone that Shizuo had personally kidnapped — and then how Tom tells Izaya about how Shizuo has a special interest in him and all the other information. God I’m, ready to be slaughtered because I don’t know how else to describe how much I like this—how much I love this fucking chapter, man, I’m truly at a loss here on how to think up of other words to say it better in prettier ways but, I don’t know what else to say other than I really love this chapter ahaha~

And gosh, I just really love the continuation of the sexual tension between Shizuo and Izaya that continue to rise higher and higher—Shizuo calling for Izaya’s company for various things, to the way of how Izaya notes that he can feel Shizuo staring at him, and then how Shizuo gets obviously irritated when Izaya speaks to other men on board ahaha~ It’s truly delicious to read all of these things, and I remember the first time reading this I was inexplicably in love and with my own masochism I was wondering if this story was going to prolong this; allowing the sexual tension between Shizuo and Izaya to continue rising like a slow-born kind of story that would leave me aching lmfaoo.

Though continuing on wards, I really liked the whole action sequence! With the fight with the other ship and all of that jazz, it was really interesting! And I also must admit that I did laugh when Shinra popped back into the scene to talk with Izaya and commented that Shizuo may be able to fight for days, but he on the other hand, couldn’t. I just found it funny, and I liked how it brought the scene back to being light again after an intense sequence.

I also want to comment on the fact that I like how Shizuo and Izaya come back to each other after all that action, and the way Izaya threw Kadota under the buss by saying that Kadota had invited him up above deck, and the way Kadota quicky defended himself before he realized it was Shizuo trying to give him an order. I had to admit, a part of me really laughed at that, and then also felt bad for Kadota LMAO. But I really enjoyed this scene, and of course what happens after it where Shizuo catches sight of the burns on Izaya’s angles, and the rise of ust between them again LMAO.

And poor Kadota, having to witness it all, and being mortified at heard Izaya call Shizuo, his commander, Shizu-chan LMFAO. Though this also raises a dumb question because, it says that Kadota was mortified and wondering if he really heard Izaya say that nickname twice, when in the scene it seems like Izaya definitely says it more than twice, but that’s just me asking a dumb question sdfionsdf

But anyways, to balance out my long and dragging comment on the last chapter, I tried to make this one shorter, and I also just wanted to point out a lot of my favorite scenes in this chapter, so this is def one of my favorite chapters ahaha~ Though then again, it feels like I’m re-reading everything for the first time so, I’m sure there will be more things ahead that I can fall in love and be with smitten with all over again. So continuing on to the next chapter, thank you so much for writing this, and now I’ll be onto the next!
Muzuki-chan chapter 4 . 1/11/2019
I was gonna make this comment and post last night but then I guess I got too busy and then sleepy so I ended up not doing it TTATT OTL but speaking of other things, I noticed you changed the titles on the latest four chaps with “Will be changed” which makes me :OOO wondering what you’ll change about them ahaha~ But anyways, onwards on leaving my comments for another great chap and the next lovely chaps to follow!

Ah wait before I say anything else, I know you said that I could point out things that could be better - but I do want you to understand that I think, you know, most things I say will just be personal opinions and my own taste, so that it would make a lot of sense if there are going to be things that you might disagree with me about, and besides that, I think most things I’m going to say are just things I like lmaoo. If anything, I think I’ll hold most of my, hopefully helpful, opinions I have until chapter 13 so that I’ll be able to look at the full picture and not just individual chapters. So carrying on—

I like the way that it continues from where you left off on the last chapter, and I also very much like this line: “He released Izaya into a group of ladies, then gave him a long look before he shut the door.” The thing that I like about it is the way that way have the detail that Shizuo gives Izaya a *long look* before leaving, and it kinda makes me wonder what Shizuo must be thinking when he did that. And a part of me is also like *eyes emoji* the influence of the mutual crush they have on each other is building! Lmfaooo
And then I like the next line of dialogue as well: “Wow, Captain took a prisoner.” Which leaves off the impression that usually Shizuo doesn’t take prisoners, if any, and that Izaya is the exception and of course, my shizaya shipping heart is very much all for this ahaha~

Then there’s the introductions of all these new characters, and having read the later chaps, I do like these characters but they do raise a question that I think I’ll probably save in my last comment for chapter 13, if I don’t forget that is! LmAO but anyways, I do like these introductions of characters and who they are, and then a guess from Kira that Shizuo most probably left Izaya in their care because there was an open bed for him in this particular space ahaha~

And oh gosh, at this point, a part of me wonders if I just like this egg because I eat too much eggs for breakfast most of the time, but god I really do like how the egg is brought back up again as it was the biggest foreshadow of change that was awaiting Izaya. There’s also the thought of Izaya thinking about his sisters on the dock crying out his name - but other than that, the comments that Izaya makes about the eggs does raise a question that I have. Because it says that he relents that Mairu is correct, even though her small act of witchcraft was never right until now, even though he’s still chalking it up to be a coincidence. But as a reader, and from what I remember, the only time of any example being given about Mairu’s fortune with her egg was in the first chapter when they recap the time of how Izaya was attacked a week earlier. So it makes me wonder and question a lot of things. And I think I’ll put all these questions in a separate paragraph because I just have a lot of thoughts about it I guess ahaha~

So about the egg, it brings up a lot of things that I’m thinking about. Like how long has Mairu been cracking an egg into a clear glass of water to tell if good or bad things are going to happen, and it also makes me wonder why she does this—because there is information that Izaya is a choir boy at church, and possibly being the lead choir boy as well since he’s the one who knew how to read the notes and lyrics, so it brings up why she does these witch crafts if there’s a possibility that they go to church. Or perhaps they don’t go to church at all, really, or they don’t believe said religion and that Izaya is lenient enough to let Mairu do these kinds of acts which I almost feel like she could get in trouble for if people knew she was doing witch craft. So I guess all in all, the whole with craft brings up the question why it’s not being questioned in this kind of time period that it seems to be set in. Unless I’m thinking too hard and being an asshole about it all lmfao which is also a highly likely case to be honest. But speaking of this egg, it also brings up another thought that I have in which it makes me wonder why Izaya would think Mairu would be correct with her egg this time around even though he still believes it to be a coincidence. Because in one way, technically Mairu was also correct the first example of Izaya being attacked the week before. Only to be brushed off by Izaya saying it was bound to happen sooner or later - so it kind of all comes down to….How long has Mairu done this act? Why does Mairu believe in it while Izaya doesn’t seem to believe in it? Is there more proof to back Izaya up in why he doesn’t believe it at all and that these things can only be a coincidence. I just feel like this whole egg thing was pretty neat and something really interesting in my personal opinion, so I guess it just leaves me wondering why it wasn’t explored more when it was something extremely useful in being used as foreshadowing and as something that Izaya thinks about when Shizuo snatched him away from the Baron’s arms and brought him onto his ship. To be honest, I feel like I could talk much more about this egg thing, but I’m pretty sure I’m already annoying AF with it rn so I should probably stop lmfaooo so going back on track to the wonderful things in this chapter

I also really like the introduction of the pirates being brought up, especially one of the most important one: the Golden Eye. As well as his three sons and the way that it definitely relates to this story as it is brought up more in the later chapters. And in turn I also like how it relates to the story that Izaya had told the twins in the first chapter. Though I also have a terrible question about it, is that here it says, “The story of the strong blond pirate bothered him. When he told it he had been recalling a feared man named Golden Eye.” And this is mostly just my personal opinion of how I read things, but in the first chapter it feels like the story was made up because in the first chapter it said: “He began to make up a story to tell as he cooked their breakfast.” I mean, in a way I think I know what you were going for, and I absolutely like it, but it brings up the thought of why make it seem like a story he had made up when it is brought back up again in the fourth chapter as something that wasn’t exactly a myth or a legend, or something that was fictional, when it was indeed real to a certain point. And I guess it also brings up more real annoying AF questions from me like, why didn’t Mairu and Kururi know about Golden Eye? Because assuming that this story takes place where pirates are well-known and that they live in a port, or at least a town with a harbor, information about certain things like pirates and whatnot are things that the twins are bound to hear a thing or two about the terrors of what this legendary blond pirate has down, and all the terrible deeds he has committed.
But in a way, I could be letting this get to my head too much with all these questions, because in the end Izaya was just telling the twins a story at breakfast, which was loosely based upon the idea of recalling this fearsome pirate who’s called Golden Eye that Izaya happens to know about. So in the end, we can just sweep all my unnecessary questions under the carpet lmfaooo

Continuing on with the story, oof I really love the descriptions of the things that Izaya hears, like the “thunder of footsteps rush by in all directions, shouts for cannons—” and that whole thing, because it really does bring it back to the fact that in the here and now, Izaya is on this ship, listening to all this commotion that’s happening practically all around him; then there’s also these sentences as well, “Izaya could imagine water flowing by where they swing, the wind in the sails retreating the large vessel away from his small town. He imagined he smelled smoke of burning buildings.” I really like these kinds of details because of not only how they bring more life to the things that Izaya is experiencing, but because it helps me to experience and understand what’s going around this main character that I care a lot about. And also because the fact that Izaya is imagining the scent of smoke from burning buildings also brings a call back on the fact that in the previous chapter when Shizuo was carrying him to his ship, Izaya was able to catch sight of fires amongst the brawls that they passed through before being dropped onto the ship. And then, oh gosh, the way Izaya is welcome to the the Dollar of the seven seas. That was dope af and I really liked that ahaha~

And then continuing onwards, I like the fact that it’s really starting to hit Izaya of what he’s done, especially how he’s reacting to the word balm and his instant refusal to be in anyway connected to that word. But reading the sentence of Izaya asking himself what he was thinking for calling out to a pirate for help makes me bust out an ugly laugh because all I can do is just agree with Izaya on it ahaha~ But then again, Shizuo has proved himself somewhat worthy in a way when nothing happened to his sisters when Shizuo brought him home in the earlier chaps sidofnsdf. But I do like how Izaya takes this time to have his thoughts about everything, from his sisters to what’s going to happen now that he’s on this ship where he’s not sure what his role is going to be.

And OOF boy I am, being fed real good today with all these details, especially these paragraphs: “Kira walked to the middle of the floor…Hammocks hung double stack from every beam, and barrels of gun powder, potatoes, apples, wheat, and rice were strapped down everywhere.” And then there’s Kira’s action and dialogue that I also appreciate, where she’s telling Izaya why they’re the last people on board to eat. But also, the introduction of Erika and Walker, and forgive me if I’m wrong, but by Subaru do you mean Saburo to make it the whole van gang, or have I jumped to conclusions to quickly that this may just be another OC sodifsdf OTL

Continuing from that though, I like that we get to hear more about Shizuo, even though he’s upset, but also learn why he’s upset. And then going from there to Izaya outing himself for being the one responsible of making the trap to catch the pirates for the bounty and turning them in. And a part of me admires that Tamari likes Izaya’s plan ahaha~ since it was quite a good plan after all! But it also kind of makes me question slightly on the offhanded thoughts of where I’m wondering why it doesn’t like, raise any alarms I guess? Because thinking more about it, it wasn’t solely just Izaya who took part in all these traps, but Izaya was the mastermind behind it. And of course there’s bound to be a lot of people in Shizuo’s crew that might not get along or anything, but Shizuo still lost three men and had ten of them get injured. And I also ended up having a brain fart so I completely forgot where I was going with this, but I guess in conclusion I found it endearing that Izaya felt responsible and admitted to being the one who came up with that idea. Though I guess a part of me wonders if Shizuo would find out about this, or if this is even a thing that should be dealt with and how it would be dealt with because I’d feel like…if Shizuo got angry about having some of his men injured and more, then it should have some importance, if that makes sense? Though in the end, I don’t think it matters too much really ahaha~ Not really sure where I was going with this, but it did pop into my mind for a bit.

Another thing that I want to point out that I liked, was when Kadota came to Izaya to tell him that Shizuo required his company alone ahaha~ And the way of how the people that izaya was with had completely changed their attitude: from an on-going conversation to silence as Kira and Tamari focus on eating their meal and ignoring Izaya’s stare as they don’t want to get into trouble. I also find it interesting, because it shows in a way of the power that the superiors have on this ship, which makes a lot of sense, but it also makes me more interested to learn more about how and what everyone’s relationship together is like—do they get along? Do some not like each other and etc. I don’t know, but commenting on it makes me ask a lot of questions like these ahaha~

Tbh I’m so sorry omg, this comment has gotten so long that it’s telling me the word count for this comment is about 2k and rip Red I didn’t mean for it to get this lengthy, especially since most of it are just questions sdoifnsd so I’ll try my best to like, shut up LMFAO and carry on sdoifnsd

So another thing I want to point out, other than liking as well as Izaya describing the things he sees while following Kadota like witnessing the three people who attacked him as well as Datobi being severely injured as well as the other people around him to Izaya stepping over thick bundles of rope. And then, oh gosh, the way of how Shizuo’s cabin is described is also very lovely, and honestly, there’s so much that I like about the last paragraphs before the end of this chapter that I honestly can’t even pick out which sentence I like, because I like them all. And gosh, just, oh boy the way it ends with Shizuo entering the scene sdfoinsdf I should count myself lucky that I’m reading this now instead of before, because I know I would be dying with the chapter ending like this and waiting in anticipation of what would happen in the next chapter!

So I guess this is the end of my fucking mess of a 2k comment, and many apologies for most of it being filled with me questioning things, but please do know that I very much enjoyed this chapter to the fullest, and that I can’t wait to continue to word vomit ahaha~ though, I also want to add that at any time I do say something stupid, you definitely have the right to call me out, I just want you to know that. But anyways, thank you for this amazing chapter, and I’ll be on to the next now!
Muzuki-chan chapter 3 . 1/10/2019
And now this is the review that I believe you’re going to get sick of me, but sadly you’re stuck with me now so lmAO buckle up fam.

But OOF I love this chapter very much, but I should keep it all in chronological order of all the things that I enjoy so much about this chapter. But seriously, I really love one of the first paragraphs: “The handsome image of the pirate flooded his memory…almost like a mad man he pulled on a tunic and rushed on pants.” I really liked this whole paragraph so much, especially the way of you point out that the memory comes with the smell of grit and the scent of the sea - and the way that Shizuo carries him like how one would carry a wife over a threshold—it’s so fucking good, I’d honestly print these words out and eat them LMAO. I really can’t explain how much I love this, but I really do love it. Because it makes me feel like I can envision the smell of the sea and the grit, and I can imagine how Izaya must feel about all of this and then the quick turmoil after that as he rushes to get out of bed.

And then the fact that Izaya berates himself when he realizes that Shizuo, a pirate, and a really strong one at that to be honest, knows where he lives lmfaooo. Izaya can’t really catch a break but, this is only the beginning! But at least, thankfully we can rest in peace that Shizuo is a good pirate and wouldn’t have done anything bad or harmful to Izaya or his sisters dfghjk then there’s also the fact that despite Izaya having read what Shinra write, a part of me laughs at the fact that they tell him not to go, but he goes anyways ahaha~ I mean then again, I feel that Izaya wouldn’t have been able to refuse anyways because of the Baron, but even so, I like that Izaya just shrugged off Shinra’s warning and went anyways.

But speaking of having that note written in french, and even Mairu commenting that “he spoke wonderful french” makes me wonder where Shinra had learned it from. But then again, he is a pirate after all, and a very knowledgeable man, so I’m sure he’s actually got a loe of things hidden in his sleeves ahaha~

And with another paragraph of introducing Izaya’s outfit, I also really like these sentence in particular: “His vest was a deep black over a blood red satin shirt. It was a striking look. Something that read he was rich, and owned by someone.” I like the way that it comes last, the fact that Izaya, clothed in wonderfully rich and lavish clothes, it all comes down to this striking look that lets him be read as rich, but owned—and I feel like that’s also what comes off to describe the Baron. Since in a way, he owns Izaya - and reading more of the paragraphs that come after; it’s obvious that Izaya is nothing but the Baron’s favorite possession. And thinking about it now, even though I’ve read this fic at least a handful of times, being able to type out this comment makes me think more about the Baron and how his actions also actually make him…..Seem like a sexual predator - maybe I’m just dumb and that’s what he is all along, but I could also just be thinking too much into it.

I guess the reason why I would think that is because of the way of how the Baron has been supporting Izaya and his sisters after his parents died. And how he continued supporting them and giving them an education and such more - because thinking about it, this places the baron in a position of good will, and the prey, being Izaya (edit: and his sisters as well actually, sorry, my thoughts ended up being solely on Izaya since it seems that the only one the Baron was having sexual advances towards was Izaya), falling into a position of gratitude and dependency on the Baron. And of course, it’s like, in a way it’s like “duh Muzuki, are you just figuring this out now?” But, I guess it’s a different way of reading it just a couple times, and then actually reading to give a comment back, and in a way I guess it just hit me ten times harder if that makes sense? Because then it makes me think of all the things the baron has done over the years that us, the readers, might not know about or with the information that we do have, and the way it’s presented makes me feel like Izaya doesn’t think much about it. Which would in a way make sense, since he grew up with this. Then it makes me wonder even more if Izaya would suffer from anything, whether it be minor or major, and how it might affect his actions and words or how he thinks about things. I don’t know, I could just be way off course with this thought - picking at things that don’t exist, but, it was just a thought I had gotten, realizing that the Baron is or can be a sexual predator, makes me realize how much *darker* this whole thing is in reality. And in a way I guess that also makes me excited, because I feel like this could add another layer to Izaya’s character - but in the end, this is just me talking out of my ass, so many apologies Red!

Edit: Actually, taking back some of the things I’ve said, it is obvious that Izaya feels disgusted at having the Baron’s sexual advances. So in a way, I’m really just dum and my mind blanked lmAO, but I’m just remembering again that Izaya has actually made a lot of effort to show that he dislikes these things - and his reactions like instant refusal to leave the party with the Baron, crying, or the way his thoughts always drop to the fact that the Baron can provide so much for him and his sisters thus thinking that accepting the “tempting” invitation to be the Baron’s balm was the best choice considering his situation. If anything, it’s really a clever, but disgusting no doubt, manipulation and grooming tactic.

But then it also makes me think of the Baron’s wife, since it is mentioned that he’s married and he has a wife, and it makes me wonder if the wife knows that her husband has sexual advances towards Izaya - whether she is okay with it or not, and then there’s the fact that the Baron also says, “I won’t kiss your mouth, I reserve that for my wife.” So it just, makes me wonder if she’s a silent enabler—I don’t know, I’m probably waaaaayyy off the rails so I need to be brought back down to earth again because I’m thinking too much about all of this sdoifnsdf.

I really do like the way that Shizuo is this savior to Izaya - in the beginning of taking Izaya home, and then taking Izaya away from the Baron. And, oh gosh, the way that Izaya was mulling over the invitation of becoming the Baron’s balm, he ends up calling for Shizuo and Shizuo straight up just punches the shit out of the Baron and carries Izaya away - and god, I just love the last several paragraphs of this chapter as well. From how the world draws to a slow as he’s being carried by Shizuo, looking at all of his surroundings and how he’s passing by people in a brawl and fires that are lit - and most especially his sister’s and their appearance—

And then it ends with Izaya thinking about the red egg that Mairu cracked. Honestly, this delivers on so strongly, that I can definitely remember again why reading this the first time I fell so much in love with it. In horrible comparison, these last few paragraphs of this chapter is like listening to music that builds a momentum with the pitch rising and the tension just coiling harder and harder, and by the time I read the line about Izaya remembering that cracked egg, it’s like when the music drops and the bass and rhythm of the music hits you the hardest. Ahahaa, sorry, I feel like because it’s so wordy that maybe it’s not the best comparison, but that’s what it felt like to me reading this chapter. A build-up of Izaya meeting Shizuo, all the interactions between them and Izaya’s constant thoughts about him, and then the commotion of everything rising until Shizuo steals Izaya away which leaves the biggest commotion of all.

Ahaha, sorry author-san! I felt like I ended up going on a rant about my thoughts about the Baron more than anything else, but it was just really intriguing I suppose when i thought harder about it. But I do want you to know that I really loved this chapter a lot! Especially since I get to like, finally tell why I really love the act of witchcraft with the egg, and how this chapter just ends like that. I’ll get on to commenting on the next chapter as well, but if sleep takes me first then it’ll be a while until I can get to all that chapters after this ahaha~
Muzuki-chan chapter 2 . 1/9/2019
Hello! It is me again, and I’m going to tell you now that you’re going to get sick of me by the end of next review and you might wish that I could stop talking so much, but sadly the only thing I know what to do is to talk too much so sdoinsdf OTL just giving you a heads up. But anyways! This is the second chap and I’m going to rub my grubby hands all over it and probably annoy the hell out of you as I try my best to tell you all the things I like about it ahaha~

So reading the second chapter, I do like the way of how we learn more about this town, or perhaps more about this bar—or just how everything seems to roll into place at how they’ve most certainly done this before, and that it was Izaya’s idea on capturing pirates to get their bounties, and how much money they would receive for catching said pirates. It really brings it all to life, the intricacy of how useful and smart Izaya is. But I also want to admit how it got laugh out of me from how when Izaya was upstairs waiting to make his own arrival to catch his own bounty, he’d seen two girls being whisked past him to get laid, but more precisely just to get their moneys worth ahaha~ I don’t know, but I guess it’s just the way of how the first girl Izaya saw blew him a kiss and winked, and a part of me was like, “hell yeah babe get that money!” lmAO.

And learning about Izaya’s method of catching his pirate was very Izaya-like I must say. Searching to get the highest bounty by seeing who had the most adventures to tell, and thus seducing them or just capturing them one way or another. It’s actually a really good way of going about it when I think about it. Or maybe I’m just dumb and wouldn’t have thought about that kind of detail at all lmfaooo. Though, when Izaya finally went up to his own table of pirates, I really busted a nut at how the first thing Izaya saw was blond and I was instantly like Shizuo *eye emoji* Lmfaoo. But then when I continued on reading - there’s more I want to say but this comes outta my mouth first I guess asdfghjk - a part of me was like, omg is there gonna be some shinzaya in this, and a part of me was going to laugh if Izaya was going to be seducing Shinra, but have his thoughts stuck on that mysterious blond who wouldn’t talk to him ahaha~ I was going to enjoy the content no matter what, but I would honestly feel bad for Izaya (though thoroughly enjoying Izaya’s reactions to this myself) if you had gotten him stuck in that kind of situation.

I also really like the fact that Izaya knows how to speak french, and that Shinra knows how to speak it to and the way of how this is used to develop the friendship between them in the later chapters. Though, a part of me….is now just thinking, lmfao I’m so sorry tbh at the moment I’m writing an indulging smut fic and I just thought….Izaya speaking to Shizuo in french while they’re in bed together, but it’s just a thought lmfaooo. But anyways, going back to this chapter sdoifnsdf I do like the way you also use the conversation between Shinra and Izaya to get more backstory of Izaya’s home town: the Baron being the one who’s in charge and not the mayor, and how extravagant and lavish the baron is with his money - and especially how the baron uses Izaya as an attraction as well due to the color of his eyes.

Then of course, I must say I also laughed at the way how Izaya tells Shinra he can see in the dark, but then also immediately drops the info on them that it helps him take a piss at night LMAO. This actually caught me off guard and snort out a laugh because this is such a big mood for people with dicks ahaha~ But I also found it endearing on how after this it says: “The table laughed, none had been expecting their pretty companion to cuss like they did.” And I just find it fascinating in the way of how beautiful Izaya is, and that it influenced the way the people around him didn’t expect him to have a foul mouth because of that. I’m sure I could put this in better words, but I just liked this sentence for just introducing the thought again of how Izaya looks, and he wasn’t at all what these pirates expected I guess lmao.

And also, I must admit that when Izaya lead Shinra outside to an alleyway to a bathroom that smelled so much worse - for some reason, my brain just imagined an dirty alley way that smelled like wet garbage that had been accumulating mold in a dumpster, and even though this is, well, would historical fiction be the right way to describe this AU? sdoiddsf, but anyways, I just imagine it being the old times, but then Izaya leads Shinra to a 20th century porta-potty LMFAO. I think of the dumbest shit honestly, so if this doesn’t make you laugh just know that I laugh at my own weird fucking ideas and pretend that I didn’t just write this random paragraph of why I laughed sodinsdf.

But thinking about it again….I just imagine Izaya waiting outside of the door and Shinra is just….In the bathroom taking a dump ofr half an hour LMAO I don’t know omg I need to to STOP I’m so sorry sodifn

Okay, back to being serious! I do enjoy the factor that Izaya takes this time to ponder about Shizuo, and all his speculations of what kind of person Shizuo is - what’s his personality to if he has a family of his own or whether he’s a pirate or a privateer - it’s a really nice touch. But also omg I just realized this line: “He felt for the keys to the room Shinra was in and was going to lock the door. He’d keep the pirate there for the night and get him in the morning.” I mean, I know I read it before, but I somehow just realized that Izaya was going to lock Shinra in this horribly, foul smelling bathroom and leave him in there all night LMFAO. Izaya that’s so cruel omg but I’m honestly having such an ugly laugh over that.

Reading more of what comes after that sentence, I do apologize if this offends you and if it does then I sincerely apologize, but the way that the new character, Datobi, enters the scene sexually assaulting Izaya and Shinra telling Datobi that Shizuo’s going to be livid - this scene reminds me of A Rather Monstrous World by TsukimotoMana. I know these two are completely different, amazing fics, but Datobi did remind me of one of the antagonists in A Rather Monstrous World called Shazesh, and truthfully, a part of me wonders if Datobi will become or turn into some sort of antagonist for Izaya as well. A part of me feels like it would be interesting - coming from having read all the chapters - because it feels like you could build something out of this, other than having used Datobi to cause an actual meeting between Izaya and Shizuo and other minor things later on. But this is also your story, so whether or not Datobi becomes more than a minor character, I’d be perfectly fine either way ahaha~ it was just something I had been wondering for a while, and re-reading this part again made me ask this question faster than I should have, instead of saving this question for later sdfghj OTL

Other than my question, LMFAO Shizuo would chuck the heavy bar doors at these people who were sexually assaulting Izaya, but also, the end with Izaya stopping Shizuo from going after those men and Shizuo staying to take him home, ahhh! TTATT It’s so good, honestly. And of course, Shinra still there and talking in french about having to clean up “another mess” lmfaoo which makes me wonder how many times Shizuo has done this really.

But anyways, thank you for writing another amazing chapter, and many apologies that perhaps I wasn’t able to share my opinions coherently about all the things I loved that happened in this chapter, but hopefully I’ll do better in the next chapter, so see you then!
Muzuki-chan chapter 1 . 1/9/2019
Hello! First I’d like to apologize, I guess, ahaha~ I remember seeing this fic several months ago and I had it saved on the back of my mind for later, but it wasn’t until during my finals that I went “fuck it I’m tired of studying I wanna read some fics” and I’d come across this fic again. And I guess another thing I also wanted to apologize for was that I had definitely read when the latest chapter was updated because I remember feeling like death during my finals and I was, swear to god, seeing chapter thirteen the way thirsty and lost men do when finding an oasis in the middle of a desert ahaha~

But continuing forward!

I really do like the way of how this story opens with “Izaya lead the most normal of lives.” I almost find it funny in a way because its almost like…a paradox to me. Especially with the information since I’ve already read later chapters (but since I’m not there yet and this is only a comment for the first chapter, I shouldn’t indulge myself yet on talking you to death ahaha~), I feel like Izaya had anything but an ordinary life. With enough backstory on Izaya, it’s enough to see that he struggled - especially since he was raising his Mairu and Kururi himself and committed himself to doing a lot of work just to keep himself and the twins afloat. To be honest, I’d feel like I could keep talking for days at the way Izaya seemed to be an extraordinary person in what seems to be a small town - bringing up another detail that I absolutely loved the way that Izaya had described the town as, “this little wretched town” when thinking about the life he wanted for his sisters. Honestly, I got a big ol’ hard dick for details and imagery, so just know that throughout this whole thing I was just like “asdfghjkl” the whole time LMAO.

Okay but back to being serious—or as serious as I could possibly be which is probably not a lot lmfao—but another thing I wanted to say and is something that I think I will also comment on a later chapter because I know that in the later chapters I kept on busting a nut over, well, everything I guess LMAO but really! I just really liked the detail of Mairu cracking her daily egg into a water in a clear glass - I was honestly in love with that. Because I just found it so, well, fascinating I guess, or maybe I just loved it more because I wasn’t expecting something like that and I’m not sure why it’s this particular detail that I love so much but I just do. Not really sure what it is about it; maybe the way you use it in the later chapters again and how this is used as foreshadowing, or the way this just adds some richness to the characters themselves and the way Izaya - much to the chagrin of his sisters ahaha~ - just shrugs it off when the example of what happened to him the week prior of getting attacked by a man who had been eyeing him for a while is used as a reason to not believe Mairu’s minor act of witchcraft. But nonetheless, I just loved this scene so very much.

And of course, there’s nothing I don’t love about this first chapter - the introduction of Izaya’s life in this dreadful town to familial love between him and his twin sisters that lead to the multiple uses of foreshadowing—of things looming on the horizon that Izaya is doing nothing but ignoring, and the ending with Izaya (or you, ahaha~ since you are the author after all!) saying “Pirates” and leaving with such an interesting cliffhanger that, really, made me unable to stop reading. Honestly, I think the first time I read this fic I had read from the first chapter to chapter twelve in one night out of being wholly enamored by it all.

Oh, but I also wanted to add that I also busted a real good nut over Izaya’s eyes - I know I’ll probably ask more questions about it later, or at least I hope I’ll remember too asdfgh - and I really like the way that Izaya’s eyes are just so peculiar in a way that it seemed to have brought him more…good things I suppose than bad. Though then again it’s all subjective in a way because I’m sure it wasn’t that great for Izaya at all to always be gawked at for having such strange eyes, or having been used as entertainment which you talk about in later chapters sofnsdf ack I’m so sorry, I’m trying to keep everything I talk about being only this chapter but then I keep thinking about all the other chapters as well so, ahaha~ my bad, sdoifndf. So since I most certainly can’t keep my mouth shut about the other chapters, I just want you to know that I have been sucked in the moment I read this first chapter, most especially since you also made the summary of this fic very eye-catching in the way that it revolves around the way that Izaya has eyes that allow him to see in the dark. So honestly, thank you so much for having shared this wonderful story here, and I can’t wait to leave another boring as fuck comment in the next chapter ahaha~ so see you in the next chapter!
