Reviews for Fairies of the Shattered Moon
Mastermind4892 chapter 48 . 8/3
Whew, that clash with Mercury was intense! Another Gate defeated in less than a month! A string of victories is what we really need; not just for the obvious reasons, but to send a clear message that the Gates of Salem are not as infallible as they like to think. A message that a wilting white rose sorely needs to hear.

They may have said differently in the Volume 2 opener, but this time it is *Salem's* enemies that are gathering. A lot of well-healed enemies. Fairy Tail is returning. Blake has finally rejoined her team and Lucy is close at hand. And there are also others who are on their way...

But none of that compares to the next clash. Foolish Cinder, believing that only she is capable of change while others stay the same. While Pyrrha gave her considerable trouble before, she is substantially more powerful and determined than your last battle (Not to mention Raven, a former member of Team STRQ and a far more experienced Maiden). Cinder's lust for power, especially when it's just within reach, reduces her vision to a narrow tunnel. And even worse... she cannot comprehend what is coming for her. Cinder could have destroyed the world's entire supply of strawberries and STILL wouldn't have provoked as much wrath as she has by hurting dear Pyrrha.

Let Cinder and all who follow Salem tremble, for the Queen of Fairies has come to join the hunt.
Kamencolin chapter 48 . 8/3
Damn that Mercury fight was amazing, I didn’t think you would kill off.
X the Reaper chapter 48 . 8/2
Very awesome chapter. First off, loved seeing End being proud of Jaune's potential and his reaction to Wendy and Erza's appearance. Nice to see a bit more into his inner conflict and feelings and all of that.

Now, the best part was obviously the battle scene. I loved watching Blake and Yang pulling off their new moves and Mercury moving to counter all of it, plus Ren's final killing blow. Very awesome, all things considered.

And now I can't help but feel like Mercury is going to reappear in Hell's Core (figuratively) screaming his head off almost traumatized while Tyrian likely recompleted watches on before he manages to get a grip, with Tyrian almost cheerfully telling him that the "first death's always the most traumatic one" like it's just normal and that he'll "get used to it". Watch out Ren, because there's no way in hell Mercury's gonna let this one slip him by.

And here we are at last, Cinder vs. Pyrrha rematch. Neither of them are quite the same person they were at Beacon. Let's just hope Pyrrha doesn't do something to get herself almost killed before Erza shows up.

Now all we need is for Lucy and Esper with her own "cavalry" to pop in and we're golden.

Looking forward to more!

Edward4555 chapter 48 . 8/2
You know, I've been really asking myself if i should review your fic or not. The reason was simple: I know nothing about Fairy Tail, so I didn't know if I could offer fair criticism. In the end. I will only review only the RWBY parts.
This review will be more than a general review of your fic more than this specific chapter, so let's begin.
First of all, I consider the Atlas' arc the best part of the fic(I'm biased towards intrigue plots) and sadly the weakest for me it's the Fall of Beacon.
In the Fall there are too many, I won't say plotholes, but elements than not always work. For example:
Why Salem didn't tell Cinder not to kill Team RWBY?. I mean, yeah, it's possible that she thought they wouldn't come back to the present so fast; but she should have told Cinder just in case. There is also the disconnection of Cinder's methods and Salem, Summer and Hazel methods. Now, you have tried to explain this, but for me you haven't hit the mark, sorry.
Let's talk about the Atlas' arc. As I said it's my favourite but it has problems. Those problems still can be fixed because there are about backstory:
How Summer could infiltrate so easily in Atlas?. How could she keep the masquerade so long without nobody noticing her semblance? and when did she obtain the powers of a Gate?. You made a point that before Watts upgraded the Hell Core the only people who used were Happy, Natsu(or End), Tyrian and Hazel; no mention of Summer.
There is also a problem you have inherited from Canon RWBY: Can Salem leave the Grimmlands?. Now, considering the foreshadowing about the Grimm and her lack of control of them you can make a really good excuse: She can partly control them to not attack mankind in masse but she can only do in her place of power.
Finally, I'll talk about this chapter: it's very good. Maybe Mercury learns at the end that Salem¡s lessons about friendship are worth it. I mean, he can't be dead considering what happened to Tyrian, right?
Greymon1000 chapter 48 . 8/2
For all his boasting of his new abilities and how smart he is fighting, in the end Mercury's own arrogance was what cost him the fight. He overestimated his own abilities and underestimated his enemies and to do that is a fatal mistake, no matter how smart you fight. Very fitting that the killing blow was dealt by Ren, someone Mercury dismissed as small-fry earlier. Ironic too, in a way.

I loved Yang's growth in this chapter, using Lucy as an inspiration in order to play smart and turn the tides, and finally swallowing her pride and taking End's advice. Hopefully Yang will still (reluctantly) take it at heart for future fights (Because it's obvious Mercury will not let this one go). When End hears of what happened here, he will be proud. I shall hereby call her new form Yang "Asura" Xiao Long. Loved that and the One Piece references, by the way.

I can see where End is going regarding Jaune becoming a Gate, he IS a perfect candidate. Embodies everything Salem and the Ophiucus want for their circle. I also loved how he praised Jaune for his own cleverness and tactics. End has to be one of the most interesting antagonists I've seen from a fanfic, next to Esper and this fanfic's version of Salem and Hazel (Who I think are better than their canon counterparts). I wonder how his fight with Jaune and Wendy will go, and if Lucy will show up. I wonder how the dynamic between Lucy and End will go, and how Lucy will react to the new information that E.N.D was a living innocent being within Natsu's body who she almost killed despite him being a victim of circumstance. She probably won't take it well.

As for the fight between Cinder and Pyrrha, as excited as I am, I can't help being irritated with the two of them, although I don't know if that's the whole point, if it is, good. Ironically enough, those two have more in common in that moment than they believe, what with them risking their respective leader's plans for their own desires. Maybe I'm being a little bit too tough on Pyrrha, but I can only hope Jaune, Erza and Ruby talk some sense into her, before she gets herself or somebody else she loves killed (Just how dangerous is Altairis anyway? I can't remember...). Anyway, now I'm here excited for Erza kicking Cinder's ass, it will be interesting, considering how Scarlet was afraid of the memory of Kyouka's torture but End being worried for Cinder being defeated is saying something.

Anyway, keep up the good work!
W8W chapter 48 . 8/2
Another great chapter(not a surprise).

End is right that Jaune is excellent candidate for Gate. He is clever and loyal. His main disadvantages is relative weakness and inexperience. Both of those things would be taken care of by transformation (power is obvious and there is need of training no matter how experienced you were).

All this power and his flame are still dependent on oxygen. Clever of Arc to copy Weiss trick. I can think of three "fire" things able to deal with vacuum. First is obviously sun. Second there are combustible materials containing their own oxidizers like thermite. Last but not least lava (it is most likely for fire mage to make) vacuum cut oxygen but is also excellent insulator so molten substance would come thru it easier than thru air.

I am aware that End biggest disadvantage is taking opponent alive. Still with Wendy there battle will be very interesting. Overall his whole character is rather interesting. I can see reason for his bitterness but I didn't see his action enough to decide if he overreact. Now that he knew that Pyrrha is Erza daughter I wonder what he will do with this information.

Fight against Mercury was main course of this chapter and it was very satisfying.

It was very touching when Yang was cornered and thought that she will lose only to her partner coming as a cavalry. Electric attack also make excellent response to hiding underwater.

If I understand correctly look of Blake forms haven't changed much (Red to yellow eyes to indicate retaining control), I assume that it is symbol of lack of mastery and in the future Blake will change into more human forms.

Like I suspected legs were Mercury downfall but I didn't suspected that his old instincts will also betray him.

Yang final attack was incredible. I love all this thoughts that come into planning it. She acknowledged that blindly copying Natsu was her downfall. She still fight with passion like him but started to do it smart. Like Lucy she started to fight smart and make best use of her options. Her attack make me think about Gum-Gum Gatling Gun and while it look like mindless assault it was well thought offense. Enough attacks on the head For Mercury to not noticed until it was to late while bulk of offense going for weak point. Blond was always clever but usually rage blinded her. (she deduced that Lucy is back)

I also love that it was Ren who delivered killing blow. Lie was at best blip on assassin radar, not wordy his attention in Black opinion, it was fatal mistake. It also for me to rethink my opinion about his magic. Gate head (in armored form) was obliterated like ripe watermelon. I thought that Gildarts suppressed boy in everything but I was wrong destructive power is the same difference come from AOE and cast time. Clive could obliterated mountain in second while Ren would make room size cave at best and need few seconds.

I assume that part in italic is Mercury after death experience. It was very climatic. I wonder if his new body will have proper legs or will he still use prosthetics. On a side note bad guys having ability to respawn is very convenient. No boring always running away ("We'll Meet Again") or premature death in lame way robbing us of characters.

I am not sure but it doesn't look like victors are in shape to reinforce allies in other fights.

At the end we get glimpse into vault, I hope that it mean that it will be focus of next chapter. Cinder is her arrogant self and in fairness she is strongest there. I doubt that it will be completely one sided but I suspect that she will be close to victory when Erza arrive. It is something I really want to see. I hope that there will be small joke that Cinder and Raven will not acknowledge Titania as a powerful immediately after her arriving, until she starts to kick ass. Pyrrha knew that her mother is strong and heard what 7th Guild Master can do but I expect that she will have reaction according the lines "Words didn't do it justice." It may be also fight in which Scarlet will unlock her semblance.

Lucy is only one missing. With how reinforcements were distributed it look like she will join fight against Emerald. It may go very wrong for heroes. Salem need something from her be it information’s or skill Gate of twins can provide it if she copy her. I am also very curious what will happen when End will see Heartfilia. I know that he hate her but if he try to hurt her I doubt that Natsu will stay idly.

P.S.
I think that there can be mistake in part where Blake attacks Mercury in Death Stalker form. You described her pincers going for stomach and pincer aimed in head. I think that you may have meant to one of it to be stinger.
D.N.Works chapter 48 . 8/2
Seems our heroes are slowly making way. And Cinder, I doubt she'll lose but maybe she'll realize others can become stronger over time to.
SuperSaiyajin4Vegeta chapter 48 . 8/2
When you foreshadowed lightning, I wasn't expecting it to be Blake.
Vein Bloodborne chapter 48 . 8/2
It looks like things are beginning to draw to a close on the matter with Haven. Just hope that things end on a happier note for the Fairies.
KiroZen chapter 48 . 8/1
Nice One Piece reference you threw in.
I'm going to have to reread this to figure out how the plotline's going as it's been a while between updates.
FanfictionLover76 chapter 48 . 8/1
A fight concludes, two more begin...

Jaune turned out to have trick up his sleeve even with End's curse apparently burning magic itself. I shouldn't have been surprised that the vacuum-defense wasn't forgotten after the first arc, but I was. I'm glad as it is turning out to be one of the only ways they have to fight him at the moment, even if he has already thought of ways around it. While Natsu has shown he can be rather cunning at times, End depends on it as it actually allows him to hold back and not barbecue vomit-boy from the start. Am I imagining things or is this most of this fight just End trying to makes friends? XD

Kinda ironic that Mercury's strong assets in canon, his legs and combat instincts, ended up being his weak-point here. I liked a lot of aspects of this fight. The versatility Blake's magic gives her, allowing her to take away Mercury's greatest advantage of his water. Yang finally using the tactics her semblance truly requires. Also, Yang using her magic in such a bad-ass way that even Natsu would struggle with. The emphasize of Mercury's combat instincts being god-like that he was able to position himself in a situation like that. Finally, Ren getting the final blow with one of the most awesome magics in the setting. Can't wait for the other fights.

You did a good job describing End's resentment against Natsu and Fairy Tail. I feel it might have been better to wait til his inevitable reunion with Lucy however, as just putting it all into internal dialogue seems like a bit of a waste and slowed down the moment. Speaking of which, End really hates Lucy. How does Salem feel about him wanting to murder her? As Salem and Lucy seemed friendly with the little time they had in the flashback. End wanting to challenge Erza makes since but goes to show that he is more like Natsu that he will admit. His realization that Erza is Pyrrha's mother was the funniest yet. Wish we could have seen Lucy's reaction to that.
Eliad91 chapter 48 . 8/1
THAT! WAS! AWESOME! Thanks for the new chapter! I don't even like fairytail that much anymore having fallen out of love with it and I've loved this entire fic. Is it wrong that I hope Yang manages to get her Healthy Throuple with Natsu and Lucy all things considered? At the very least I'm hope the end of this isn't as somber as RWBY zero considering that was a crossover with FATE:ZERO the second darkest Fate story and this is Fairytail which is typically more upbeat and heartwarming lol. Have a good night! Thanks again!
ReaderWarrior chapter 48 . 8/1
No. No, no, no. Not done. No sleep time just yet. You finish this story! (JK). This was a fun one! Erza returns, Blake's arrival, even a gate's defeat! Let's go! USA! USA! USA! (Wait a sec...) Honestly, I would need to go paragraph by paragraph to go over all the things I thought and felt throughout this chapter. Can't wait for the Next!
