While reading, I imagine my GMD Oc in it. She is Basil's niece, Elizabeth. She is smart like him. And in this, I can imagine her and her friends in resistance helping her uncle

This story gets more amazing with each chapter. I know I said this before but I feel like I am watching a really long movie, and I love it.

As I thought, all of the other animals are indeed humans from Anna’s world. And we finally get the names of her friends you showed in flashbacks. I’m guessing that the older man in the brown coat I mentioned in my last review was not Anna’s father but this Matthew guy. As to what happened, I’m guessing that Anna, Jack, Ashley and Madison were kidnapped and Anna somehow ended up being the sole survivor. Since Ratigan knows about it, I would not be surprised if he was somehow involved in what happened.

I noticed the other film references, such as Anna and Ratigan’s heated about his cruelty being similar to Scar and Sarabi’s in The Lion King, Anna’s ‘‘Put me down’’ to Basil from Tarzan and of course the whole sequence of Basil rescuing Anna was obviously from The Cat Returns, one of my favourite films. Even Basil’s disguise was identical to Baron’s when he rescued Haru. The whole rescue sequence is now my favourite moment in the whole story. So Basil is indeed the Masked Phantom, huh. I figured it had to be either him or the Elderly Mouse. It seems Basil has been doing some serious Superhero training given he can now move more acrobatically superhero-style, and I find it hilarious he can now drive a car. And given that Basil and Dawson both talked to Anna as if they knew her, that must mean they somehow didn’t lose their memories. Hope Olivia and the children will also be rescued. Can’t wait for them to arrive at the Freedom Lands, and hopefully we will see their romance blossom now that Anna is a mouse. Also, I get the feeling that Anna’s mother was the woman mouse with the shawl at the palace, but I could be wrong of course.

When Ratigan realises his hated nemesis is still alive and the Masked Phantom, his hatred for Basil and his obsession with killing him will increase even more now that he has taken his bride away for him. I still think Ratigan’s motivation for marrying Anna has to do with ensuring his ‘‘grand plan’’ succeeds and stays permanent, but how I can’t fathom. Only you know.

Ratigan was always sick and completely insane, but it seems becoming king has increased that insanity. Watching the film, I always got the impression he was a sick pervert who would touch anyone, not bothered if they were male or female, adult or child, because that’s how sick and evil he is, but touching Anna on her … that’s taking it to a whole new level. Shudder. I hope Basil will pulverise him for touching his girl.

Lastly, there are still two things that really puzzle me: since Basil had the silver watch when they fell from Big Ben, why did it send Ratigan to Anna’s world instead of him? And when first arriving in Anna’s world, how did Ratigan manage to hide until he got hold of the watch to take that human form? Surely people would have seen a human-sized rat walking around and recognised him from the film? Sorry for all the questions, but this story has sent my mind into a spin, in a good way.

Damn, I must say the way you wrote all this crazy action with Basil rescuing Anna was just awesome and with all these gadgets he had to get them out of that castle was just wow. This was a pretty good chapter and I'll be looking forward to the next chapter.

So glad Basil rescued Anna. Plus, the children, including Olivia will be saved ASAP. :) I'd look forward to the next chapter.

I love all the animated movie references that you snuck in- 'The Lion King', 'Tarzan', and 'The Pebble and the Penguin.' I also love the Arsène Lupin vibes that Basil gives. x3

Ratigan is such an evil creep! He kidnaps, he tortures, he kills without a second thought. You'd think he'd just be fine with Anna 'agreeing' to marry him, but noooo- he has to stick a knife in further and twist it by killing those who can't entertain Anna (who has other worries on her mind). And I won't even go into that 'bad touch' territory... ew.

Okay, so from what I can understand, the Ratigan WE know hates Anna. He would be more than happy to have her killed. But other versions of Ratigan are obsessed with her for some reason. Why that is- is yet to be revealed. Also, Ratigan has no idea that Basil had survived. So he has no clue that he is The Masked Phantom. I am excited for the moment when he realizes that Basil has been alive this entire time! :D

You know what would have really made chapter 16 shine? If Anna smiled the moment she realized that Basil was her dance partner. Why? Because Basil said that he could get her to do so. It's a small thing, but... it symbolizes that Ratigan could never win her heart, no matter how powerful he is.

Anyway, brilliant storytelling as always. And I'm looking forward to more. :D

I cannot believe Ratigan just did something a pervert would do by grabbing her bottom. You know, I hope you write Basil reacting angrily or jealously when he hears about it. I hope you do. Keep up the good work.

I’m glad you liked my review. It was my first ever on here so I was nervous.

So excited we are finally back to the story. I was expecting to pick up right where we left off, or start off with a flashback to when Ratigan first arrived in Anna’s world, but I’m not complaining. Maybe the gaps will be filled in in a later chapter.

Ratigan has a bizarre imagination. This world he has created combining his and Anna’s worlds seems to be a mixture of Victorian times, modern day and the early 40s. And since Anna is now a mouse, I assume all these other animals are humans having been turned into animals with no memory of being human.

Where are Basil, Dawson, Olivia and Hiram? I hope they are okay. But have they lost their memories of everything that has happened? And this bat has to Fidget, he obviously survived the river and has now joined forces with the heroes. Hope poor Phillip will be okay.

And Ratigan using a computer, I can totally picture that. He did say he was in Anna’s world for 31 years so he’s obviously grown accustomed to modern technology.

I’m intrigued by this ‘‘Masked Phantom’’. Is it Basil, the Elderly Mouse or a new character?

Speaking of the Elderly Mouse, here are my two theories regarding his identity: first theory is that he’s Basil’s future self, disguised as an old man so his past self wouldn’t recognise him. His attire sounds very similar to Basil’s: ‘‘a grey suit coat, brown vest with a white undershirt, grey trousers and black shoes.’’

Second theory is that he’s Anna’s father, using a sliver watch to disguise his appearance, similar to what Ratigan did in Anna’s world. The mouse has ‘‘light-brown fur,’’ and in both Anna and Ratigan’s visions a human man with ‘‘tan-brown hair’’ and wearing a ‘‘light-brown coat’’ was seen, and it’s implied he is Anna’s father since in one of Anna’s flashbacks he played chess with her, and it was stated that her father taught her to play chess and checkers.

I know you stated in the Toy Store chapter he died from an illness some time ago, but that was in Anna’s perspective so that could just be what she’s been led to believe and he’s actually still alive. Maybe Anna’s father was originally from another world, but when he arrived in our world he stayed when he met Anna’s mother. For some reason when Anna was still young he had to leave and return to his own world and to protect Anna they faked his death with the illness story. This might explain why Anna was the one chosen to go on the adventure, because of her world-travelling father. Or maybe Anna was adopted and that her adoptive father did die of illness but the Elderly Mouse is her real father in disguise.

I also found it funny Anna was beginning to act like Basil. She obviously misses him and hopefully they will soon be reunited and they will learn about each other’s pasts. Whatever it was that happened in Anna’s past, I hope she gets over her turmoil, she deserves some happiness after all she’s been through.

Can’t wait for the next chapter.
