I've Litera-,... 'Figuratively', been dying for a story like this!
A lone, little girl wanders in the forest: scared of the cold silence, pursued by the unknown. Then surprise! the unknown's a really nice guy, wanting to protect, overly so, the child from a frosty-foreshadower (nudge nudge wink wink) ;)

And I too question character torment, but is it really questionable when you feel the satisfaction of resolve and conquest after all the hardships and trials?
