Reviews for The Long Road
Ryndel chapter 1 . 8/11
Please tell me you'll continue this? It's really incredibly good, and it would be so amazing if you continued. Please?
Guest chapter 1 . 4/23
...words...not...i...beautiful work...wow...

Okay, I'm gathered. This is an amazing idea, you should write more. Please write more. I don't know who you are, but if there's not an update by Halloween, I will find you, and I will write swear words on your window. (JK. but please. I need more.) (Also, I did not know that Cirdan was one of the OG 144.)
Amaleea chapter 1 . 2/24
This was a good preview of the First Age through the eyes of one whose heritage was so profoundly shaped by it. You brought to life some beloved (and not so beloved) characters from. Finrod and Luthien were especially interesting, and Elladan's thoughts of Turin sort of reflected my own.

The end was surprising with Elladan becoming (eventually) the legendary Gil-gilad, though the fact he will never meet his twin again is really sad.

Good job! I needed a good Arda story to read right now, though I wish it continued on for a few more chapters.
snehabee chapter 1 . 12/10/2019
This is truly excellent. Elladan is not a character I had thought about much , but I loved how you wrote him and his dilemma. Your characterization of Finrod, Luthien and Celgorm are all truly delightful...I hope that one day you'll write more !
ScarletHunter05 chapter 1 . 11/18/2019
Slightly late review (not too bad though).
Oooooh by the Valar this was amazing. I loved every minute of it - including the parts where my heart was torn in two. There was so much emotion in this piece, and it was so well written. I was intrigued by all of it, and I'll admit I was sad to reach the end.
Thanks for such a great fic
JustHey chapter 1 . 10/3/2019
I love this fic, I have read this 2-3 times! This is such a unique idea and the text is beautifully written with a perfect blend of description, action and emotions. This also resembles the actual Silmarillion in how despite all that beauty there's an undercurrent of unavoidable tragedy. Please, please continue, I desperately want to know what happens in the future, and Elladan's final choice as well.

Also, it's a tiny thing but I just want to get this out: Elen síla lúmenn’ omentielvo (A star shines on the hour of our meeting). In LotR, Frodo says this to Gildor and co. literally at night, and I have always thought it's just something he made up to sound suitably polite and impressive :). I find it odd that so many fanfic writers use it as a common greeting.
freetobe16 chapter 1 . 6/29/2019
This is amazing! I love the different perspective and plot. Will you continue this?
Deathherselfie chapter 1 . 6/10/2019
Oh, I like this. I really like this. Such a balanced and beautiful story. Now I just wish we got to see Elrond and Elladan’s relationship.
bob chapter 1 . 4/27/2019
This was an amazing read. It's so original and well written and I cannot wait to read more.
Alalaes chapter 1 . 1/21/2019
What a gem! Thank you so much for writing this. This has been a very emotive fic so far. The profound sense of dawning horror as Elladan realised the implications of his role in the past ... it was heart-wrenching.

On another note, I have to recommend reading Darth Fingon's fic "Four Rings for the Elven Kings" on ao3. It's a bit of an oldie and incomplete but has a similar time-travel premise to your fic I think you would like! Again, thanks for sharing your story with us.
PageKat chapter 1 . 1/14/2019
I love it! Elladan’s so sad now...if I were him I’d miss ro too. But anyway, please keep writing! I really like this story!
WeylandCorp 4 chapter 1 . 12/30/2018
What an interesting story.
Mysterious Jedi chapter 1 . 12/16/2018
Wow. I really enjoyed this. I'd like to see more, sometime, but your right that it stands alone. It does explain the confusion about Gil-Galad's parentage quite nicely.
GalacticHalfling chapter 1 . 12/11/2018
Great story. It has been a while for me since I last read the Silmarillion so I've grown rusty when it comes to some names and events, but your take on the time travel theme is quite well done. Will you write more for this (I proabably shouldn't ask since I'm always hoping for updates on 'Sleeper in the Cave' as well... but I have to anyway)?
SineSanguine chapter 1 . 11/28/2018
Oh I absolutely enjoyed this so much! There were just so many tibids that made this altogether sit so well. (Also big fan of how you portrayed Luthien, Master of Stealth.) You're certainly good at building up tension- I want more Elladan and especially him meeting more of his family; they are all just too precious.
So of course, I'm very thankful for this great beginning and I hope you will write more soon
