Toriopolis chapter 9 . 7/23/2019
I really enjoyed this story! It was nice to see an intelligent, cunning Robb. I loved seeing Arya as a fighter amongst the army of the North. I thought the take of Sansa followong the Red God was an interesting one. I also really liked Wynafred as a character. In sum, I hope to see a sequel and your thoughts on how the changes from this story would continue to go on to impact the future of Westeros.

You're not supposed to use apostrophes on possessive pronouns like yours or theirs, mate.
MM995 chapter 2 . 5/22/2019
Wait. Something doesn't make sense here. If Robb has the assassin's knife, then how did the entire war even start? After all, the Lannisters attacked the Riverlands after Catelyn kidnapped Tyrion, which she did because Petyr told her it was his. If she didn't present it to him here, then why would she kidnap him?
DarthNacho chapter 9 . 5/4/2019
I rather liked this story. A believable cascade of events. I do look forward to the continuation. There will be a continuation, won't there?
Guest chapter 9 . 5/2/2019
Couldn't get pass the second chapter, sorry but if Robb talked to Walder like this he would've been fucked, remember the one who needs isn't Walder, the lannisters hold the crown when they capture riverrun whatever they say goes, his son is married to lannisters and Robb insults him in his own hall and gets a deal? Sure Tywin may be a too prud bunghole but even he dosen't insult people in their own halls.
toile grant chapter 9 . 4/17/2019
good
jlove34 chapter 9 . 3/14/2019
Loved it! Thanks for sharing?

Well, definitely some kinks left for King Robb. Momma Stark will hold a grudge forever, just like her house. I feel kinda sorry for the new QotN! So many problems there. Where the fuck is the slimy, git, Petyr Baelish? Winterfell with his forever love, Cat? Or at the Vale, with his fat, little honey, Lysa? And Cersei? Will the Rose (and the Reach) be marrying another Prince, in Aegon? Will Jon get murdered at the Wall? The Red Woman? So many questions...lol
Guest chapter 9 . 3/12/2019
Yay! The Starks are heading home! I like it when there is a happy ending for the Starks :)

Now for the good stuff, that bit at the beginning with the soldiers was interesting to read because we do get to see what the other realms think about Robb and it is clear that they are divided. Westerlands no doubt hate him and think he's a demon (but hey, Joffery started it and since he is PURE Lannister). Stormlands are probably just bitter that they needed to ask for help from someone whom they view as little more than a boy, they are probably also bitter over the fact that the North had to come and save their asses. Riverlands is where I think the politics will get interesting because it is pretty messy and complicated, my guess is that the Riverlanders are a bit conflicted and split down the middle in regards to their opinion of Robb. On the one hand he did save them from Twin and kicked his ass and then kicked ass in the Westerlands, which they are happy about because of what the damn lions did to their lands. On the other hand they may be bitter because he didn't also take care of the Mountain as well and took two of the Riverland houses with him as part of the North.

To that I have to say that I wish that Robb would have stuck around to take care of the Mountain but that would have delayed their journey home even more and I get the impression that he is just tired and DONE with all this Southern Drama. He just wants to go home, build up the North, and prepare for Winter. But yeah, the Mountain may be touchy subject, but at the same time I think this is an even bigger problem for Edwin Tully because he is the leader of the Riverlands, he is now free and he should have been able to gather his forces to, at the very least, whittle down the Mountain's forces by cutting them off from suppliers and taking them out bit by bit. By the time Robb would have been finished with Kingslanding, the Riverlords should have (with effective leadership) been able to start rebuilding and taken out at least HALF of the Mountain's forces, whittle it down to a couple thousand men. Lead them to a position where they would be trapped in and then kill them in battle. Robb could have then helped to finish off the last of the Mountain's men. I can understand Robb not stepping in because at the end of the day he did his part, MORE than his part in answering the Riverland's cry for help and freeing RiverRun, it is not HIS job to take care of the Riverlands, it is Edwin's and I think that some of that future political animosity may be out of jealousy because of how weak Edwin is in comparison to Robb.

Another thing about this chapter that I found both interesting and wishing that there was more of was Sansa and Robb's interaction. Robb is trying to help her but it is times like this that show that he is still a teenager who doesn't know what to do in terms of stepping into that paternal role left vacant by the death of a parent. Robb recognizes that his little sister is hurting and has turned to the only thing that brought her any sense of comfort but at the same time he knows that she was taken advantage of. He's right. Melisandre came in and basically brainwashed Sansa because she was so vulnerable. Sansa is still really naive and has been through a lot and had a bit of a crisis because she basically lost her faith and then clung to the first thing that seemed remotely true. I don't like Melisandre for this reason. Her devotion to the Red God is sick and she took advantage of a vulnerable child that was scared, alone, and away from her family.

Sansa's journey in the sequel (when you get to it) is going to be interesting because again, Sansa will find herself even more of an outsider in the North than before. If Arya thought she was stupid before she is going to think that now she is just REALLY stupid. Sansa is going to have to face the consequences of her actions and learn to think for herself and to stop denying what the hell she is. She is of the North and she is a wolf. She is not of the South, she is not some red devotee.

I really can't wait to read how you write Robb and Wynafryd's relationship because we don't know too much about her but I can tell that she will be good for Robb. I like how she understands that she is about to be more than just a Lady and that she can't just hide behind a castle wall, she needs to lead, she needs to be seen as strong, and she is not willing to only be seen as an ornament. She will be the Queen. She will rule beside her husband. But then the next part will have a lot to do with politics and building up the North. There are roads to maintain and fix up. New trade deals to negotiate and more marriages to negotiate as well.

Winter is Coming. And the Starks are going to be busy. I can't wait to read how this all plays out and I happily await the day that the sequel goes up :)
The Jingo chapter 9 . 3/10/2019
I agree that Arianne is relatively underused. Not the Dornish in general, since it's relatively common for there to be some Dornish connection to the protagonist faction. But that's usually done via a living Rhaenys, or someone being sent to be Oberyn's lover/wife. Arianne rarely gets to be more than a background character despite her being one of the more interesting POVs in the books.

In regards to my argument about Lady McGeneric MinorNobleOC, you've kind of proven my point right there. They don't have impact unless it's shoehorned. Jeyne Westerling was nothing but a convenient plot device to prevent Robb from making an actually useful marriage - a plot device that was then given unwarranted importance by being turned into an absolute Achilles' heel. Roslin Frey is only relevant because the author decided that the Freys would respond to the Westerling affair by committing the Westerosi equivalent of crimes against humanity. Wynafryd Manderly was never going to be relevant unless you decide to force her to be relevant by having the Manderlys just decide to turn traitor after generations of loyal service.

Vassals do matter. But even in the Game of Thrones you're still dealing with real people. They react like people would, not Machiavellian political machines. Some of them turn traitor easier than others. So yes, Robb could have married Alys Karstark and literally nothing would have changed because House Manderly is well-known to be absurdly loyal. They weren't going to betray Robb for not marrying one of their daughters any more than the Mormonts would have betrayed him for not marrying one of their daughters.

Marriage in a feudal society is a tool of the state. It's something you do to get something you weren't going to get before. The Manderlys were never going to betray Robb unless he did something to grievously insult them (like executing their head of house on trumped up charges). Does that make his marriage to Wynafryd totally useless? No, because it's nice to reward vassal loyalty like that. And hey, he gets the opportunity to make legitimate heirs But that's all it is - he's just doing something 'nice' that at the least doesn't insult the rest of his vassals.

A good marriage for Robb would be one that gets him benefits, not just one that doesn't bring him negatives. He doesn't lose anything by marrying Wynafryd except the possibility of a better marriage, but he doesn't gain anything either. The Manderlys were already loyal. They were already happy with Stark rule, and even were happier when they were given the chance to become even wealthier through controlling trade and the navy.

A good marriage is one that is out of your realm - which brings you external economic and military support - or it's one that's within the realm to solidify the loyalty of possibility treacherous vassals/expand your personal demesne (A theoreotical Bolton daughter, Alys Karstark after the death of her brothers, ect).

Well I don't really like the name the sly wolf. Nobody calls a wolf sly( foxes sure but not a wolf). It's one of those little things that irked me
