...is this a different universe AU sort of thing? like dipper and Mabel went through the same thing Ford and Stan did but when Dip went through the portal, he ended up in the original universe and meets the younger Stan who had just recently got kicked out?

originally I thought this was a time-traveling AU but now I'm questioning even that!

regardless, this is a very interesting story so far and I'm loving it!

Did Dipper and Mabel separated like the Stans did? Hopefully not.

So, going out on a limb here... based on the double take, he's either a time traveler, which I doubt for numerous reasons, or this is just an AU where Dippin' Dots is like 40 years older and the double take was because of his last name.
