Even if you dont get the characters down exectly like in the mangas it really shouldnt matter I think. I mean Shanks got transported to qnother world, deaged and lost all his nakama. That should change his character so the difference doesnt matter.
And with Shanks in the hero universe canon events should also change up a bit. Plus your the writer. You can skip a few years and/or make up your own villians.
