Do not reuse things you've read in many fanfics. If you read something in one rare fanfic or two, you may freely reuse the idea as you see fit.

But if everyone's doing it, avoid it. I don't need to knwo what kind of character Aunt Petunia is if you're not changing her in any way.

That said though the way you introduced your characters was seriously a well done job. Had I not already known who they all were, I'd be impressed.
