Reviews for Persona Non Grata
eraider60 chapter 14 . 9/1
Nice fanfic for AC7! I recently played thru it on the Xbox Game Pass (it was the first Ace Combat game I ever played), and I had a lot of fun with the game, and I plan on going back to play thru it again! I did like this novelization of the game, and I liked how you changed it to where McKinsey was actually planning to betray the Oseans, and everything!

I also liked how you humanized Trigger. When i played thru the game, I imagined Trigger having feelings pretty close to what you described in your fanfic, when he watched Brownie, Full Band, Champ, and High Roller die, and I especially imagined him having heated frustration from seeing Mihaly get away the first time he fights him, knowing he had the chance to avenge Brownie and Champ in his hands! Any games with silent protagonists, they seem perfect for fanfics. Anyway, I definitely will be reading the rest of your trilogy!
Skylinneas chapter 14 . 10/21/2019
Alright! I finally finished the 'Spare Arc' of your Lighthouse War Trilogy! Hooray!

Great work setting up the story so far. I like how you make some minor changes to the game's storyline and provide some insight into Bandog and McKinsey's actions, as the questionable decisions they pulled certainly give off the vibes that they're turncoats. I also like that you have Avril and Tabloid tagging along with Trigger and Count this time. Looking forward to see them working together in the LRSSG!

My only complaint is that I wish this story could be longer lol. Like, expanding more on the downtime between missions, maybe having some filler chapters dedicated to their lives at Zapland. I felt like the story went by a bit quickly. That, added with the events of Pipeline Destruction happened entirely off screen and other mission details were shortened from the in-game campaign, and I felt that the story was a bit short lol. But that's just nitpicking for me xD.

All in all, a good start of a trilogy! Happy to say that I'd be checking out your next AC stories very soon. :)
Skylinneas chapter 7 . 10/18/2019
Hi! Just wanted to say sorry that it took me so long to continue this fic after my last review! I've finished Chapters 4-7 now and I'd say that this is getting pretty interesting! I like how you set up Trigger being plagued by the fear of drones because of the disastrous operation over Chopinburg, and how he felt guilty about the deaths of his friends. Hell, Trigger probably had it the worst out of every AC player with the number of comrades he lost throughout the campaign, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how he'll deal with that in future chapters and stories. :)

What I also really like as well is how you give the other Spare pilots some personalities. High Roller's amicable interactions with Trigger helped establish his character more than what his very short screentime in the game itself gave him, and I really dig that. And I also like how Count is having both mentor-rival dynamics with Trigger, too. Would love to see how this goes in the future. :)

Also, Bandog and McKinsey are up to no good, I see xD. Can't wait to see how those two get their comeuppance.

A bit advice, though. In my humble opinion, I think the actions during the mission of Long Day is a bit short, and there's a lot of dialogues from the game that didn't make it here like how Count disobeyed McKinsey's order and return to base to resupply, and Bandog grudgingly approves it. Or the possible extra dialogue when Trigger flew into the tunnel at the last base and amaze everyone. In my opinion, this could be a bit more detailed. It's just a suggestion, though. :)

All in all, consider me hooked! I'll finish the rest of this story by this weekend and moved on to your other two stories in 'The Lighthouse War Trilogy'. Looking forward to seeing more works from you! Happy writing, ace! :)

yes
MineEngineer chapter 10 . 7/18/2019
this story it's good. To see someone trying to write from Trigger's point of view regarding the Lighthouse War, and I agreed with you that Base Commander McKinsey is an asshole, even in the game i tried to shoot down his plane in mission 10 when he acts so highly but he's just a coward, a real coward. Oh yeah please insert the scene when Trigger facing all the Aces of Erusea as well. If you played the game you must know what i am talking about. By the way for anyone who read my comment, please if you played the AC7. Please share the link how to get the new DLCs for free. I am playing AC7 Cracked version for PC, so we the cracked version users won't be able to update the game and new mission unless we buy it from Steam. It'll be much appreciated if you guys willingly to share it.

This was a good read, I enjoyed the interactions between the Spare Squadron
AmongUsAll chapter 14 . 5/21/2019
Well, I just binged this entire story in one afternoon. Great writing that I thoroughly enjoyed, figured it was worth a review. The small changes you made in the plot were definitely welcome, I never understood why Avril went to Tyler Island in the game when she had a spot with the transport. Seeing that bastard McKinsey get what he deserved was super satisfying, even if it meant Bandog had to die too.
Hmm, what else? Just wanted to say I appreciate a good Ace Combat novelization that lets us get to know and relate to the characters a bit more. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next part of the story when I get the time!
AceCombatTrigger chapter 14 . 3/15/2019
When’s the sequel?
Ghost6 chapter 2 . 3/4/2019
I guess I got that 'pencil' joke
Skylinneas chapter 3 . 2/21/2019
Hi! Sorry it took me so long to finally read this.

I've finished the first three chapters now and I'm happy to say that I'm hooked. You did a great job describing how Trigger feels and making it easy to relate with him. I liked how you presented the life in 444th to be a hellish experience, something that the game itself didn't really expand upon much.

Will read the rest of the story later. Also, congratulations on your release of the follow-up story to this one. Looks like I'll have to catch up quickly now. ;)

PS. Would love to see a prequel detailing Trigger's time back in Mage Squadron, though. However short it is, it's kinda interesting to learn more about his first sorties.
fishbed chapter 14 . 2/17/2019
great story bro. keep up the good work.
Derox-1223 chapter 13 . 2/16/2019
Well then... this changes things.
Nighthawk6595 chapter 14 . 2/16/2019
Spare Squadron, once a band of convicts are now a band of brothers that soared through their time in the penal unit. Inspiring fear from the enemies and admiration of the allies, even the regular forces. The story of adjusting to a new environment, developing a bond with convicts that have hidden redeeming qualities, a brotherhood of pilots and a hidden conspiracy regarding the warden and the jailer. It shows that even a squadron of convicts show that they can be true heroes no matter the crimes they committed and a pilot, thrown in for a crime he didn't commit rallied all the con pilots into a true squadron.

That, perhaps...may be my answer.
Seeds of Destruction chapter 14 . 2/14/2019
I've had read this story and I know you have a part two coming soon. This is a pretty good representation of Trigger and the other Spares and their lives flying and dying for a bastard colonel who treats them like expendable assets.
Guest chapter 14 . 2/13/2019
great final chapter and I hope to see the sequel when it does come out
