I admit I was a little worried I cut the war too short. I’ll admit I thought it went on too long in the show though. Yay I loved this dynamic I never thought about there being another family out there like Ricks. Hi Guest, thanks so much for your thoughts! I’m so glad somebody is understanding where they both are right now in their reactions. Sandi can’t believe she would be feeling an attraction to someone when she’s still focused on revenge for her husband. As she told Rick, it’s been close to a year, but she still feels married, she hasn’t had time to grieve yet. Did you notice that they were trying to scavenge for supplies so they can go home and yet nearly a year later they’re still here? She literally hasn’t been able to let go, even to the extent of being able to leave the area. We may explore that more later in the story.
I’m glad you understand where Rick is as well. He’s seen so much loss and knows how quickly you can lose loved ones. He’s ready to jump in. On the other hand, he took some time after Lori before thinking about moving on. He knows exactly where Sandi is in her grief right now and is willing to wait for her to get there. When he told her she’d be ready eventually he was speaking from experience. On the other hand, when she does things that put her life at risk (as he sees it), it makes it harder for him to stand back and wait and he ends up escalating things between them a bit. Hopefully they can find a way to navigate a relationship that will give them both what they need. I think Carol did give Sandi some good advice though. Hopefully Rick will be willing to give a friendship a chance.
As far as Michonne, I love her too, believe it or not. I just wanted a Rick fanfic—there don’t seem to be many of those out there that don’t fizzle out and stop updating after a few chapters or are already doing Rick and Michonne. I finally decided to just write one, but it needed an OC. If I did Rick/Michonne, then I’d just be writing the show, right? But yes, she deserves someone. I’ll have to think about that and how it would work.

brynnesmum, Yeah, Rick shouldn’t have withheld information. He thought it’d make her pull back from him, but ended up driving her away more by not including her. You can understand now the basic distrust of groups she showed when he and Carl first told her about theirs. I don’t know what he was thinking, obviously she was going to find out since everyone else knew.

Personally, if I were Sandi and my husband had just been brutally killed and not that long after I met a guy who came on as strong as Rick did, I’d be gun shy and a bit freaked out too! I totally get where Rick is coming from too, as far what he said about never knowing what day could be your last, so needing to dive right in when you find someone you have a connection with...but I’d still want to take my time. I like what Carol told Sandi about getting to know Rick as a friend first...even if their feelings end up being so intense that they both want more, taking a step back is a better idea. She’s only just been able to really mourn her husband when she killed Negan. If she gets into a relationship with Rick right away, she might not end up being ready for a serious relationship and she could end up hurting him because of that...but I doubt Rick will see it that way!

But does Michonne still get a happy ending? I only just started reading this because Rick and Michonne are my favorite couple and I wasn’t sure I wanted to read a story where they weren’t going to be together, but I hope she ends up with someone too! Daryl, maybe? If the show had written the two of them together, I think it could have worked.

Yes, it was heavy, but wow. Sandi’s gone through a lot, no wonder she has a hard time trusting groups. I hope she helps them. I hope being informed about Negan will change some bad outcomes. Like my boy Glenn, I cried so much when he died at Negan’s hands.

Whoops. Make sure you don’t let attraction get in the way of sharing vital information, I think that’s the moral of the story here. Especially since everyone else in the community knew.

Wow, Rick’s in the doghouse for sure. I don’t understand why he’d hide it from her though. Didn’t he tell the whole town in the show? So they could all agree?
