Matt1294 chapter 5 . 12/26/2019
I hope Kabal wins Maia's heart because I think it's more romantic if she can look passed his burn marks and see the great cop he used to be, and get over the Black Dogs leader.
Matt1294 chapter 4 . 12/20/2019

Huh... so the Owl Grandmaster wants the dogs to win because he thinks it’ll bring peace? That’s, actually a very interesting motivation and raises a lot of questions, especially for (I guess you’d call him a “villain”) in Kuroinu, every other villain basically does what they do because they’re kinda sick bastards and will do whatever they want to get whatever they want, Vult wants women to serve under men so he will literally destroy a civilization (going as far as erasing any historical evidence of a way of life or a society before his sex empire one he had fully taken over) and in the new one he builds women have no rights what so ever, Graves wants his lineage to continue so he grooms a worthy warrior to help with that and sets his son up with her, but when that doesn’t work as his “failure” of a son can’t have children, he betrays his oaths and helps Vult do what he does just so he can rape his daughter in law right in front of his son in the hopes it’ll produce a child to continue the bloodline, etc... But one thing I noticed in the story, and one of the arguments one could make to justify Vult (or at least how he convinced so many people to join his cause because not every guy in the country could be that misogynistic and or desperate for sex), that wasn’t explored as much as one could have, is that one could argue that the leadership of the goddess (and in general how it seems in the world Kuroinu, generally speaking women are the ones who hold most of the political power), has done nothing but cause war and bloodshed, say what you will about the guy’s actual plan and personality, but look at it like this. Imagine you’re a guy in the world of Kurainu, specifically a lower class grunt with no wealth or special privileges, who’s entire civilization has been at war with one enemy or another for as long as you have lived and likely at least a couple dozen centuries before that, either against other countries, or against the seemingly endless tide of monsters who want to rape and kill pretty much everything else depending on its gender (including you). Suddenly, a decorated and rather famous war hero comes along and explains that’s its all the goddess’s (and possibly women in general) fault, that everything would be better if men (or more specifically, himself) was in charge, and if people just let the monsters do what they want (ie rape anything with a functional womb that strikes their fancy) not only will they not kill you, but you could join in on the fun, and why shouldn’t you, as he’s already explained, it’s all women’s fault, so why should you have to fight and die to defend them? (just to be clear I’m not saying I agree with this on any level, I’m just extrapolating why someone might be convinced to join the Black Dogs). Sure I could believe just the promise of free sex whenever you want and the woman wouldn’t be allowed to say no would be enough to entice certain people, but I feel (at least when it comes to fanfiction where writers are allowed to flesh out motivations and really explore a fictional universe in ways the original, which in this case was just a Hentai, didn’t really care to do) that there could a rather interesting subplot where the main characters think about about why certain people join the dogs, and question if, on some level, that some of their motivations might just legitimate. The Night Unfurls (a Kurainu-Bloodborne crossover that I’d recommend if you haven’t read it yet) for example does in some ways, in thats case usually by examining the fact that if either Olga or Celestine had done a better job as leaders to their respective people (like Olga handling the inciting incident of the war better, ie not declaring war on an entire species for the acts of a few members, and going as far as sacrificing an entire city of her own people to secure the loyalty of the orcs/allowing those orcs to commit god knows how many war crimes against her enemies, and Celestine being less tolerant of Nobles/high ranking people abusing their status to do things like, enslave dark elves) they wouldn’t be having a lot of the problems they were currently facing. It’s just that’s it’s kinda interesting to see a character who seems to be a moral person side with Vult because he genuinely believe in the idea that it will bring peace. Not saying I’d agree with him, but having a villains who’s motivation is grounded in a greater good mentality, and not some sort of twisted nihilistic-hedonism, would bring a bit of diversity to the villain line up of the story, because let’s face it the motivation of most the black dogs and their allies aren’t particularly interesting.
