Very good. Now for the nit pick: No "g" in "rein" as you are using it. I believe that this error will become more prevalent, as the general use of horses fades further into history. ("free reign" should have been ruthlessly stamped out rather than allowed to become an alternate for "free rein".)

I really love that you brought a little breath into the story, as much as I liked JKR work its very dry, more like D&D magic then the history of magic that has existed for thousands of years

Pretty good chapter but I don't know why you kept the whole chess play by play part. Just kinda drawn out. Quirrell's new death is great but why would Voldemort leave her able to talk and cast and that sort of thing? Doesn't seem beleivible with the smart Voldemort you're going for. Having him tell her about a prophecy is also a little out there.
Beyond that... was Holly lying about never fighting? Or was that supposed to be part of her trick? It would be interesting to see a dark trio that actually works with Voldemort, instead of always fighting him instead.

Great chapter escept for this one bit with Daphne. Is her trance part supposed to be here? It seems like a fogotten story piece that you deleted and missed part of it. Or is it some bit of foreshadow thing for later on?

In some respects, better than canon.

Honestly both Hermione and Daphne were cunts to each other, though Daphne threw the first spell, so I guess she is the bigger cunt here.
