No surprise about the ending of the chapter. Jacob has finally started to put his wants into crazy actions. Next step is probably Edward and Bella calling the police.

The question isn't if Jacob going to do something evil, but what he is going to do first: attack/get rid of Edward, or kidnap Bella with the hopes that she will suffer from Stockholm syndrome.
