No one supports his ideals in UBW because he is ultimately unable to live up to them. Gilgamesh said something similar of saber in Fate/zero. Some people have dreams/ideals that are to big for mortals. They end up being crushed by it.
And that ultimately is the end waiting for Shriou. It's just that in UBW, he accepts it. For his friends though. How could shirou's friends claim to love him but be ok with watching him destroy himself. To 'support' him would be too cruel for them to endure as they are just people,(even saber).

Shirou is the hero of Fate/stay night simply because it is itself a story. The ideals he lives by are not survived by anyone in the real world for long. He just has the power to struggle a bit longer before he is erased. For in the end, that is the limit of humanity.

While I haven't actually read ahead in the chapters so I won't be spoiled, I actually want you to NOT nerf Ray too much. He's sort of integral for Altar in the future (in the WN, ask the guys in the discord channel about it).

And from what I see from the LN Volumes that are not focused on Ray's perspective, he's never actually the protagonist. There is no such thing as a Protagonist in this world where everyone has the potential to become one.

So Shirou replacing Ray in some events of the future can actually be beneficial for Altar. Like the Gouz-Maisse gang, or the Altar-Dryfean War, or even the attack of Tri-Zenith Dragon, Gloria. I hope it will at least save Naegling-chan from limbo land.

Kudos to you my dear author, for giving me hope for ID fanfiction in this site. I absolutely love Infinite Dendrogram and hope that the English release goes faster.

Huh, pairings... honestly I can understand that the Eroge Protag has possibility of a harem route and given that the technical and cultural level of the countries 'cept a certain neighbor right nao... it is kinda possible.

I got the feeling tho that he would still not be over with Rin will still have some hesitation... till the heroines manhandle him(and I got the feeling the guy might accidentally make an older person like a widow or a long lived race one fall inlove given his 'insanely chivalrous' tendency that they will feel 'young' again).

Also, I dunno why chose best Bro Shirou Archer Install is the outfit you picked and given based on the description which I feel is from the CE of the same name. I think the Sengo Muramasa outfit would had been preferable(even if he kreps carrying that huge blanket) as it was on the original idea as his 'Final Form' as a magus/person, but if that is you choosed I ain't gonna complain.

Wish it would be upgradable also till his max build he could use it combatly even.

Lastly, I feel that we would still see Rin in the future especially if she still becomes the student of the Second and if she feels like one of her only connection(Shirou) to being a person, she might still try to reconect to Sakura and both attempt to breach into ID.

He should not be cursing a metaphorical parameter that is used by a 'bad decisions' route future ver. of him (it's like he is strengthening his association of Archer to him which he kinda don't want to).The most applicable is him cursing Archer as his class name is more familiar (Gilgamesh kinda is an irregular case) and he has a bit of mix feelings.

The story is great, probably the best weaving of fate and gamer-like ideas together. Shirou is also a fantastic character, one who is well written both in terms of action and his desires. Furthermore, the storyline flows pretty well and has a pacing that is leagues above typical, rush-to-get-to-action fanfictions. So, well done.

Now, for a bit of critique. I feel as if you nerfed Shirou's perceptions of the Servants. Berserker, for example, posed a decent threat to Saber Alter in Heavens Feel, a character who basically spammed Excalibur-like, A level attacks, all free and everything. Thus, whilst I can see Berseker not winning against Serchs, I cannot imagine him losing either. Others, like Caster, have been shown able to fly, so even if taken by surprise, cannot see being beaten either with her energy attacks. Even Rider, with her Bellepheron and her mystic eyes, cannot see losing (especially with her exceptional agility Stat). Ultimately, there is a reason why the servants are so strong, with only a select few immortal Ancestors being able to match them...with Shirou having Archers memories and all, he should become the strongest being in the game.

But, I guess, that's up to interpretation. Good work nonetheless and good luck with med school and all!
