Nice chapter. I cannot wait for the next update.

Still love the the setting of the UNSC not being naive and that it is not just a fix it fic where the UNSC just helps the Starks. Really fits into the morally complex world of GOT.

I think some of the other reviews misunderstood the UNSC intentions a little. I think integrating the natives into the UNSC might work. However, in the probable timeframe of the story, that will not be possible, since such changes would take at least one generation, I believe.

Feel free to use my following thoughts as ideas or just ignore them.

I am looking forward to the coming negotiations with the lord paramounts. While it will take some time for the nobles to properly realize how powerful the UNSC is, those with military expertise as already seen with Lord Arryn, will understand it earlier. The moment they realize the potential the UNSC brings, everyone will try to gain their favor.

I believe Tywin, Ned Stark, Stannis and maybe Dorne will see this chance sooner than later. Tywin might have a headstart if Jaime properly informs him. However, it might still be difficult for them to imagine a completely new kind of warfare. I understand that the UNSC wants to hide their capabilities, but an unwanted confrontation with bandits, wildlings, mountain Clans or Dothraki with witnesses Could reveal a part of their power. After that everyone will probably Try to build their own guns or buy some from the UNSC.

Concerning the farming agreements, The North, Dorne, maybe the Vale probably have much unused land though it is not very fertile. They could just say „here have some frozen wasteland, desert or rocky terrain plagued by mountain clans“ expecting nothing to get out of it. Whether the UNSC can turn everything green is up to you. I think it should be possible, if they can terraform planets. After word of their success gets out, it will shake the economy. Farmers might get unemployed on a large scale. They could probably be fed by the UNSC, but the question is whether the nobles like this.
The more fertile regions will probably turn the UNSC away at first, though they might reconsider after seeing the initial success in other parts of Westeros.
A side effect could be that the smallfolk views the UNSC as better than the nobles, if they effectively feed the whole population without demanding fealty. If necessary, the UNSC could employ them as craftsmen to generate income in the local currency. Maybe UNSC farmlands could even generate migrations resulting in new settlements, since they could provide better security and living conditions if they wanted.
Overall the possibilities of what effect the UNSC presence could have on the natives and the society reminds me of the western influence in Japan in the 1860s, but on a much higher scale.

On Essos the UNSC could start settling in the Dothraki sea and simply gun down every Khalasar that tries to stop them. That would certainly attract attention. The UNSC could employ the slaves of the Dothraki they kill.

Again, I love that you started the story before the start of the first GOT season. I wonder how the plot will change now that the UNSC can and has a motivation to intervene. For example, what will Viserys and Daenerys do, if the Dothraki get slaughtered by the UNSC? How will the balance of power change if food becomes readily available? How would the UNSC react if a war breaks out, whether like in the original plot or in another way, and armies want to pillage their farmlands? Will they become effectively neutral zones that no one dares to assault, especially if everyone depends on the UNSC for food?

For now the trip to the frigate might open the eyes of the more arrogant nobles who currently look down on the UNSC. I wonder when Cersei gets it.

I wonder how you will explain magic, but I think you will figure it out.

I also love that in your story the UNSC is not willing to jump through every ring the natives hold up just to not insult what is in their eyes a primitive civilization. I really hope you continue this story.
DeadRich18 chapter 5 . 7/1
First off, amazing work. Love how you make the UNSC appear more morally gray than other stories, yet still make it fun to root for them. This is so different from other first contact stories I’ve read and already I’ve ranked among the best.

Secondly, which art style are you having the UNSC portrayed in? Halo 3 style? Reach? Halos 4 or 5? Personally I pray it isn’t the later two. A part of me also hopes it’s the reach version for no other reason that when and if the Spartans show up, everyone in Westeros will be distracted by the female Spartans butts!

In all seriousness though, wonderful job so far. You are giving proper respect to both GoT and Halo, and while we all know who’s going to win if things go south, something tells me it will be a bit more than just the standard one sided blood bath.
exillion chapter 1 . 6/27
Stripping an already populated planet is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Aside from plenty of millions of dead planet and astroid fields filled with resources, this planet doesn't do much.
ggg chapter 5 . 6/21
Why would oni be interested in dragons they are slow as and I highly doubt their super sonic other than maybe wanting to study their magic.
gg chapter 5 . 6/21
Idk what the iron islands going to offer the ueg unless they are a starting fishing industry/ starting a mining industry as they don't have much farmland.
Lennex MacDuff chapter 5 . 6/19
Seems weird to me that the UNSC would go all in on colonizing and exploiting this one planet so much. Even with a food crisis in their future, I don't see why gleefully strip mining these people's homeworld would help when there's easier ways for a civilization as advanced as theirs to do business. The Forerunner ruins make sense as a reason to establish a presence and being ordered to negotiate for agricultural land isn't impossible to imagine, but knowing they intend to fuck these people over? Seems a bit out of character when they can usually get what they want anyway and not wrecking the planet in the process.

Still, I do like your portrayal of events and the idea is still solid for a great story. Keep it up!
Terminian chapter 5 . 6/18
Kept my attention the whole way through, as usual. Can't wait for the next update!
Darksoul2142 chapter 5 . 6/15
I like this story, good quality stuff. Just some of my thoughts on this fic.

One thing I don't understand in a lot of Halo fanfiction is that why does Earth's appearance require obfuscating? Cole Protocol's intent was to primarily protect UNSC planets from discovery by the destruction of all navigation data and knowledge.

I can't really see any space-faring civilisation primarily using visual methods to identify the geographical features of a planet and then say "This is Earth lads". If aliens have come into a sufficiently close range to actually distinguish geographical features visually then the admiral or personnel in charge of our solar system should be immediately handed with an involuntary bad conduct discharge on basis of allowing alien/unknown ships to close to that range in the first place.

Especially concerning the technological state of Westeros, it would do little to no harm in describing Earth as is. It will take them decades to understand and gain competence in the manufacture, use and maintenance of present-day tech (the 2020s) much less 26th-century technology. Even if they do get past this issue they will have doctrinal issues of the like: How are we to make efficient use of this? How are we to respond in case we get countered?

Assuming all Westerosi now have 26th-century knowledge (akin to Ancient knowledge download) and receive no assistance from the UNSC they still have to build laboratories, research facilities, factories and relevant support infrastructure. Such an effort will take several decades. I am also assuming the UNSC already have established a strong military and civilian presence. It is one planet against a damaged and recovering but relatively powerful space fairing civilisation.

Note I do agree with what was done with the depiction of FTL in Figueroa's presentation and the very strict and thorough measures taken for information security on the ship.

What I heavily disagree with is the UNSC's motivation and the methods they would use to go about colonising this world.

It seems like the UNSC will open with a "UFC banana republic" and then checkmate with the "Russian Crimean annexation" move. Moreover, why are the UNSC so desperate for this one world for resources? Minerals and metals can be easily found in very large quantities in asteroids of which there is an abundance. Is the UNSC really that starved for agricultural land? Build massive vertical farms, hydroponic farms etc. and problem solved.

To be honest I think this is less resource desperation and more greedy corporations wanting to exploit without restriction with the colonisation objective being bolted on which would be helped by the side effect of making the local population tied in and dependent on the UNSC. A corporate dystopia angle would be awesome for this story.

Keep pumping them chapters out mate :P
