KarisTasogare chapter 4 . 9/20
have to disagree regarding that Romulan Commander Fed Capt.
yes in the original series the Officer in Charge of the romulan ships were 'named' as commanders. however, while that does mean they have the Position of Capt, they might not have that rank. GR being familar with the WW II US Navy, would have known of several ships that were 'captained' by ranks below O-7. (as I recall, one book noted that many 'escort ships' were commanded by senior Lts)
also 'Commodore' while not 'formally used' is still around, as that is the title given to 'fleet capts' (or in other words the lead capt of a group of ships)

good story btw
some of it offering me some interseting ideas to consider.

Quote: Also, I'm betting most of you were expecting a Q chapter!

Answer: Truth.

meh. i have no illusions about the shady shit Israel does. i simply view them as the lesser evil. simply put, we can rely on them, because without us, they probably wouldn't last long regardless of being the superior military power. quantity has a quality of it's own. simply put, they exist only so long as the us and the other western powers support them. tends to make them a lot more reliable than our other "allies" in the region, like saudi arabia. you know, the country that's been exporting terrorism for the last 30 years.
Douggernaut chapter 18 . 9/20
Was kinda expecting Q! Glad to be surprised. And the chapter does work good on it's own rather than the last part of the last chapter.

Looking forward to more!

...i'm not exactly a fan of Netanyahu either, but comparing him to Stalin, Hitler, or Pol Pot is a gross exaggeration, dude. though this did make me think of when i found out that the current king of Jordan was an extra on an early episode of Voyager when he was still a prince. thought it rather ironic, given he's a war criminal.

also, can't say i really support Harry getting punished all that much, to be honest.

as for knowledge of the lore, i like to think i know more than average. i also spend some time on a few Star Trek reddits, like the Daystrom Institute.

that being said, i have absolutely no interest in ever watching TOS. it was made far enough before my time that i'm just not interested. my knolwedge of that time period is mostly from a mix of the movies (original and reboot), and Memory Alpha.

if i had to quantify it, i'd say that my memory of DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise is pretty good, and TNG is decent. honestly, i can't really go back to TNG. i just don't enjoy it. the show started airing two years before i was born.

i also don't have any knowledge of the new shows because i already have two streaming subscriptions, Amazon and Netflix, and don't intend on getting another. and if i did, it'd be either Hulu or Disney Plus, not CBS. they offer a much larger value to me.
Abyssal Angel chapter 18 . 9/19
What the buck? I have so many questions I don't even know where to begin! It was one thing when Harry still being alive was just a quirk suspected of being interference from a higher power, but it worked cause Harry being paranoid is an obvious thing. But then you went and proved that's exactly what's happening! You gave the nebulous powers that 'control' his life personas and literally ripped out his ability to choose! I say again, what the buck?
Crys chapter 18 . 9/19
Interesting arguments.

I'd have thought he'd be more upset at waking up back in the cave. Oh, well, at least he seems to be "back".

Almost afraid to know what he was up to before apparating back to the camp.

l4w chapter 18 . 9/19
Good read, thanks.
Are the two sisters from a story I would/should recognize? Or did you make them from the Ideas of Life and Death?
Since Harry will be using more magic this opens more opportunity for has luck to make things difficult . . . as with your talk with Tom and Albus I will guess that the Borg will return.
Thanks and I am looking forward to more
rantingbanshee chapter 18 . 9/19
I have to disagree with Harry's cynicism and view points in this chapter. I also agree with what Arthorius said.

While immortality can be a curse, it's also as much as a gift in a way that he can be in his prime without ever experiencing the pitfalls of old age. Right up until the moment of his actual death which has been established that there are things in this universe that could be capable of killing Harry. With that in mind, it's not like Harry doesn't know that immortality will keep him prisoner for the rest of eternity when there are things out there capable of killing him. I.e. Being thrown into a blackhole. The Q fighting him with their power and vice versa. There a few ways to get around the immortality, so with that in mind, if it had been me, I would experience all the things life have to offer, make up for lost time spent being a borg drone by doing the things that I haven't gotten around to doing, like adventuring in space, finding out if there are any magical creatures on other planets etc.

But the thing that bothers me is the way Harry perceives the Borg as this unstoppable force. No doubt, the Borg are probably already aware of beings like the Q and their power which, even the borg aren't stupid enough to attempt to assimilate something that is far beyond them in terms of power. The same could be said of Harry. Oh sure, they might try to find a way to adapt and have the entire collective looking at a way to build technology that could deal with a powerful being but there is a reason why the Borg never attempted to assimilate beings like the Q. They know that those beings are too far beyond them...it's the same reason why the Borg never attempted to invade Fluidic space again after the Undine/Borg war where they nearly lost. They aren't stupid.

That's why I think Harry's self-deprecating argument is flawed. The Borg wouldn't likely want to antagonize or mess with Harry. One thing to note though is Harry is uniquely suitable for destroying the Borg due to the nature of his powers. Fiendfyre operates similar in nature to highly virulent transmitted pandemic viruses as it spreads from one place to another. The Borg's weaknesses is in the fact that trillions of drones, borg ships, borg infested planets are all inter-connected due to the nature of the collective's hive mind state. Fiendfyre could spread to the Borg faster than it did the Devore due to the nature of the Borg hive-like, close-knitted infrastructures. If the Borg are smart, they would have analyzed what happened on Devore and realized that their continued existence would be entirely contingent on never meeting one Harry Potter because they would realize that Harry is similar to the Q and would realize that their own hive-like, close-knitted infrastructure would be their own downfall against a being with esoteric powers that is capable of spreading like wild fire (no pun intended).

In any case, I would love to see a showdown interaction between Harry and Q. That would be awesome. It would be funny to see if Harry uses the finger-removing jinx spell that removes Q's fingers to prevent him from using his Snap :D Or any number of pranking spells hehe.
wolfgang108 chapter 16 . 9/19
Like the story. The rant at the end was one sided though. If you were to state your disagreement with the policies of the USSR, communist China or other communist countries, you would fast find yourself in a "camp". The extreams of both the left and the right have piss poor track records.
Tenro100 chapter 18 . 9/19
Very awesome and enjoyable read from start to finish I can't wait for more chapters to come and enjoy
Arthorius chapter 18 . 9/19
A modern day Nuclear war would be costly and deadly, it would be considered a extinction level event.

1 Nuclear Warhead has a half-life of 90 years.

2 There is estimated that all the nuclear powers have total amount in the estimated range of between 5,000 to over 200,000 warheads.

3 One warhead 90 years until radiation clears, 5000 warheads 450,000 years until radiation clears.

Fallout shelters would need to have internal power, food and water, sanitation, cremation/incinerators, medical, capability to survive underground for long time. (only a fool and moron will believe that they can live in a fallout shelter for 10 to 15 years and think they can live on a radiated world). Not only does one have deal with the radiation but have deal with the ash, rubble, aftermaths of earthquakes, entire landscape destroyed, no technology, no food, darkness, diseases that makes COVID-19 seems tame, no medical means if you get sick means you die.

Only a fool thinks they can survive a nuclear war. Preppers are fools...

Remember a single warhead has a half-life of 90 years before radiation clears... That is not counting the ash and other total devastation of the earth after a exchange.

Unless Nature kills you first...

Yellowstone a super volcano, one of 8 covering the entire planet. One of those going off would kill off 45-60% of the population. The aftermath would be similar to a limited nuclear exchange. All 8 going off at same time... Total Extinction of the entire Human Race..

Fallout shelters will not work, they do not have the means to survive the 1000-1 million years before planet is livable. ISS they die to lack of food/supplies. Same thing applies to the Subs under water...

-

As for Harry Potter, he comes across as either a idiot, a moron, or sometimes a coward. He wants to die. If the hallows is preventing him or the fates or powers to be or some such higher beings, he should go directly to the top the Creator (think Dogma) He gets told that Free Choice and Fee Will is in play, he loses his temper and attacks HER and gets himself killed that way, total FINAL death with no afterlife...

As for Q and others like them, they tend to forget as well that there are always someone more powerful then them... with the Creator at the Top.
