We end with questions. Will Albus reveal any part of his relationship with Grindelwald, even though I don't think he'll mention his sister's death yet? His emphasis, tonight, is on the him he lost (although interestingly there's also a her for both of them, another failure that led to tragedy for each). A drinking game might not be the best idea since Severus doesn't drink. On the other hand, he's got excellent self-control and knows how to be tricky.
I hope Albus isn't too angry when he notices that discolored hand. He'll probably be furious if Severus was right about the box's contents. Did you intend this as another parallel with Albus as he became? It's only a mark, not a lethal curse, but Severus, just like the Headmaster, was careless with an object he knew must be warded. Like Albus, he was tempted not by wealth or power, but longing. It was amusing that for Severus, it was a reminder of Headmaster Dumbledore's candy dish. Who would guess that Professor Snape was so sentimental?
This clue about young Albus's recent or current interest in Dark magic makes me curious, too. Is Severus Snape, an expert on the Dark, meant to influence Albus to become the master of the Light that he grew into?

You're making real use of the parallels between these two young men, which I've always tended to overlook. My head knows Albus Dumbledore's back story. It also knows Severus Snape's. This chapter made me feel it. The sympathy and perfect understanding Snape felt for teenage Albus made his pain more real somehow. Maybe it's just because I always imagine Albus as that century plus old man who's learned to live with his ghosts, even if he's still haunted. This is just a boy in pain and Severus knows about those.

If Severus has just two weeks, what comes after? Is Severus supposed to live out his life a century before he was born or will he disappear and go to the death he was meant to face?
The echoes he kept feeling and responding to, recalling Dumbledore's offer of haven all those years ago in this other one's offer of a space to sleep for the night, and later, his own quiet, "Try me", as was once said to him, weren't merely touching. They show just how much effect his years of knowing Albus Dumbledore had. I'll be waiting for more on this one.

This is different, all right. Severus is going to be a mentor to the young, troubled Dumbledore? Or will it be more a friendship between them? I haven't seen this before so I'm intrigued by the idea and will be looking for your updates. Take care.
