Well, what would you know? I actually loved this. Not because of it being exquisitely well written, but because of Videl's portrayal. I normally don't care for Mr. Satan's daughter, since I consider her a throwaway character.

But this is marvellous, and the way you wrote Videl made me really enjoy this.

I do think your characterization of Goku was good, though I doubt he'd have done with Videl, since Goku is also noble to a fault, but it was a nice climax for the story.

Overall, a little masterpiece of Angst.

That was an amazing fanfiction! I enjoyed it (well, I don't know if enjoyed is the right word to use there. More like enjoyed the tradegy in it all). It was well-written and well-formulated. It's a great work.

I read this fic every year, at least once or twice, whenever I am about to give up on finding good writing from Dragonball. You have no idea how much I mourn your absence from the fandom. You are my fic god.

If Skies Should Fall grips the heart and pulls the reader into the world of someone whose life is just disappearing, minutes at a time. The feeling of isolation for Videl is powerful: even during dialogue scenes, it just burns and festers like a never healing wound. I fear that this feeling is something many (still, at 36) young people can relate to, but you make it real by highlighting the unreal experiences that Videl has had in her life. She's seen and been through so much, that THIS - this constant of nothing and no one in her life - is literally killing her.

And somehow, Videl and Goku's chemistry just completely overpowers all the feeling of wrongness that fics about infedelity usually contain. Their connection is so bright and true, "better judgment" seems like a betrayal all it's own.

Please return someday to this fandom and keep writing. We need you.

Holy crap! This is beautifully written. I felt for Videl and Goku. Even Chichi. This is just absolutely amazing.

Oh Jesus. Oh Jesus. I don't even know what to say except I admire your restraint with this...bijou? I learned that word yesterday, and remembered that it said it was something exquisitely wrought, and holy hell this IS, even if that is totally the wrong word. Probably. But I'll admit I've been making my way through your work, starting with Citadel which was something else. First off, where have I been in this fandom that I assumed had no love whatsoever for our favorite bandit? I've never seen him written better, no exaggeration, and still putting Vegeta into the equation didn't skewer it any. Your handle on the character is so strong and consistent, and somehow a bit your own. How do you do that? You have the best careful build up that I feel alot of us attempt and get impatient and just say fuck it, and skip to the meat. But the thing is, even the build up is of substance and keeps my attention like crazy. Awesome. I'll just admit I'm a chronic lurker whose bad with reviews and get it done here. Citadel was amazing, the order you kept by numbers of the day, and even though it wasn't totally sequential, it wasn't confusing at all and just worked. You've got Yamcha down like I've never seen it, and Vegeta's dialogue is so right I could hear it. In your other stories where Yamcha is paried with Krillen in friendship or more, the back and forth is so believable. One of my favorite spots was Yamcha and Krillen talking about Goku's instant transmission thing in the cell games. Great. And now for the story this review actually matches, holy hell. I've been scouring the web for quite awhile trying to find this Goku. Your characterization (his innocence, but all the rest underneath it) was spot on. I like the glimpses you give into Videl and Gohan's life, so often in that italic because of Gohan's apparent abesence, you make us feel the whole time. Videl and Goku's coming together was so well done, not overdone, and stopped exactly in the right place. In all honesty, yeah, kinda wanted them to get it on, but somehow that wouldn't have worked. And I admire you for the restraint. I have none. Oh, and your imagery is vivid and just ..gorgeous. I'm feelin that's the general consensus though. :) Well, I think I've said enough anyway, though that's impossible because I'm just so thrilled to have found your fiction because I've been starved for something exactly like this. Thanks alot! PLease keep writing.

Wow. Just...wow. I was pretty shaky about reading this, I'll have to admit. (As I'm not a fan of infidelity etc etc) But this, -this- was excellent. Truly excellent. I can't even begin to describe how well this was written. As the story continued on, I found myself drawn in. Feeling for all of them, Videl and her insecurites, Goku and his confusion and sadness, and hell even Chichi for just not knowing how to act anymore. There wasn't too much focus on what didn't matter, only brief enough to say it existed...and sadly, Gohan was part of that. It was heartbreaking that he couldn't, wouldn't make time for her anymore and that she was blaming herself. It actually made me want to rip his hair out. I was almost expecting more to happen when things got to the climax, but I'm glad it didn't. The simple, yet powerful kiss seemed to be just enough...it expressed her wanting to be wanted and Goku's knowing that she should be. I don't know...as I said, it's hard to put into words besides, "Holy crap, this was AMAZING!". I think if you can awe someone who is 100% about the canon pairings in this world with this piece, you have some serious talent. Many, many thumbs up and standing ovations for you! *favs*
