Reviews for Brilliant Eidolon
Torian chapter 8 . 6/6/2017
Loved it ! Kudos to you for coming up with an A/U Gravitation story where the characters don't fall too far from the canon tree ! Well done !
Kimmimaru chapter 8 . 4/24/2011
I have to say this has to be one of the best fan ficfiction's i have ever read! I absolutely loved your portrayal of the characters and that you managed to keep them in character while making up something different! I also loved the way you wrote it as if its all running behind the scenes of the manga/Anime! Brilliant! absoulutely genius! I enjoyed it so much! it made me laugh and i nearly crapped myself when Ryuichi was shot, he makes an awesomely hilarious ninja! I really enjoy your writing, it's refreshing to read something so intelligently put together! Thank you very much for writing this epic piece, you made my day!

Wow I'm really surprised by this fic! It was confusing to me at first, which I blame on not having read *epicly amazing* writing in a reeeally long time, but by the 2nd/3rd chapter I was fully immersed in this. I really understood the theme of this, it was like I could feel the loneliness and distrust that Eiri felt, so I definitely don't think this was superficial in the slightest - it was quite elaborate! Everything was twisted and weirdly perfect so thank you for writing this! Great job! Also, loved the happy ending of course! ;)
JokerChick chapter 8 . 11/5/2010
This story was just...amazing, I read it all the way though in one sitting. You have a very spectacular writing style, and you ability to come up with this story and its context is phenomenal. You are one of the best writers on Fanfiction. I applaud you.
Roni-chan chapter 1 . 8/26/2009
Wow.

This is just... wow.

First I thought you made a crossover of Angel Sanctuary and Gravitation, but this is way better than that. Kind of scary, though, but I love it so far

*going off to read more*
pandawolf chapter 8 . 7/6/2009
I've read this years ago on gurabite :)

And I still love this. Well done!

Are you still writing for The Illustrious Onnagata?
SorceryGeniusLina chapter 8 . 11/22/2007
This is just one of those stories that after to look and look for a good story to read in the fanfiction data base and you come across an actual good story, with good grammer, and depth and you're like : yatta! But this one even more so bc it's a diamond in the rough...or whatever that saying is lol! It's very maturely written and I loved it all around. How Yuki was the tortured sorta assassin - I think he was so in character like that...and when I thought Shuichi actually betrayed him I was almost too pissed to continue the story but then you twisted that and I was like - YAY! :) And I'm so glad you did a happy ending because they're my favorite thanks!
min farshaw chapter 1 . 10/10/2007
haha...plums...too funny that of all the fruits to chose from Shuichi would say plums...Yuki's right, no one ever goes to a resteraunt and orders a plum, but its not like they order, say a banana or a pear either...loving your story so far ;)
supershu-chan chapter 8 . 7/12/2007
Honestly? Don't even know what to say.

Fantastic.

I quote this, like, everyday. So flipping funny. Not to mention just incredible in every single other way possible.

'Go clean the koi pond.'

-falls over laughing-

You are truly a genius. I love you so bad. XD This, like everything else you write, is just amazing and I love it.
moon71 chapter 8 . 6/9/2007
Another wonderful outing into your brilliant (no pun intended), delightfully paranoid universe where no-one is who they seem (even Shuichi has things to hide!) and nothing can be trusted. As with "Black Cat" you turn the usual plot on its head yet at the same time it has a ring of truth to it. There was a mad sort of logic to the idea of Tohma creating a vigilante organisation to deal with rapists and paedophiles... I presumed this had grown as a result of Eiri's dreadful encounter with Kitazawa. If Tohma was prepared to push a man in front of a car (at least in the manga) to protect Eiri, it doesn't seem impossible for him to go this much further, with all of his wealth and connections. Even involving Eiri, while perhaps cruel, does also follow some logic - Tohma's overprotective love always comes across to me as rather counter-productive, destroying what he wants to protect, because Eiri never really grows up or moves on until he pulls away from him. (Even, in your story, Tohma's "therapy" sessions with Eiri seemed a way of controlling Eiri as much as helping him.)

I did like the way the other characters again took on slightly altered roles in this world - the idea of K and Ryuichi being a deadly partnership was excellent. Actually they rather recalled the Kray twins a bit; one just generally bad, the other downright pyschotic. And I liked (for once!) to see a proper, loving relationship between Tohma and Mika (barring one moment of weakness on Tohma's part!) And Sakano being the villain - well, why not? He's one character I felt got a little short changed in both the manga and the anime, because after all he was the one who had faith in Bad Luck from the beginning and seemed to get very little thanks for it! So all in all, for all he acts neurotic, he can hardly be stupid. And in the context of that story, it was easy to see his constant fawning on Tohma shielding a real obsession!

I could go on forever about the plot twists, the excitement (the final chapter in particular was brilliantly paced and wonderfully gruesome, severed ear and all!) but I'm not a good writer or reviewer when it comes to action so I'll stick to chracterisation - and this again was superb. I love your Eiri - outwardly hard and cynical, but secretly struggling to be something better, and perhaps half-aware that there is very little difference being made by all the killing, despite the good intentions, and too much damage being done to the "killers." (A split - or multiple splits - in such an organisation seems so inevitable, as always happens with various terrorist or vigilante cells where nothing is official and therefore has no real "law".) You managed to portray his love for Shuichi without being sentimental and the scenes where he thought he had put his trust in nothing and Shuichi was betraying him were so painful. AUs are best when they at least reflect the spirit of the original, and this does so well - again Shuichi is Eiri's absolution, his guide back into the light, but in a different way.

Shuichi's reaction actually seems quite natural too - the idea of Eiri's being a killer was almost irrelevent to him in the original and he admits he loves the idea of Eiri having a mysterious past. I also liked your inclusion of Mizuki, a character I was always rather fond of in the manga. Akasugi was seriously creepy, but he played his role in the end, and as OCs go he was a lot more fun than the various Mary Sues and their relatives who appear far too often in fanfics, usually to come between our lovers.

Excellent!
Solandra chapter 8 . 6/2/2007
Seriously...I don't know how you did it, but you managed to bring a happy and geninuely fulfilling ending to a largely gloomy tale without making it come off as artificial. When I read the last chapter, I just smiled at how things turned out and thought, "Yep. That's the way it had to turn out."

Maybe this is because, despite the dark themes and macabre references, there's also an underlying sense of hope and humor that lies beneath the black surface, waiting to be freed, which makes the happy ending plausible.

Before I get too philosophical for my good, I'll just say that your characterization of Yuki was dead-on - I just love it when he does a snarky narration in a fic - and the contrast between his thoughts on the DEADLY serious and the irrelevant (thinking about his novel in progress when he's faced with the fact that Shuichi may be cheating on him?) pulls off that clash between fantasy and reality and how they kind of bleed into each other. The other character portrayals were superb too, AND the plot was lovely: I know that I'm not the only reader who didn't see the major twist coming. This story had EVERYTHING to make it gloomy and enjoyable at the same time.

And I admit, I'm a sucker for angst with happy endings, which made the fic score major points for me.

Guren chapter 8 . 12/19/2006
I am glad that you finished this. I was certain that you were going to end it on an unhappy note.I think this was very good and I am glad that I got the opprotunity to be able to read this awesome story. Congrats on finishing it and I apologize for not being able to finish it sooner.
gabrielle angelique chapter 5 . 10/2/2006
Very remarkable. You give Gravitation and Sakano a very very different name. At first I was having second thoughts whether I like this or not because the angst has made me remember a recent memory that I am not so fond of. I'm glad I let my passion for reading prevail. I am inlove with your style even. I was stunned when you made out that scene with Shu and Okita...but there's just something that tells me that he just can't betray Yuki. Perhaps it was because of Pianissimo where Yuki really didn't betray Shuichi...hehe..you mentioned in your profile your goal and I was wondering if you could tell me your pen name? I do want to see your talent in paper.

Nevertheless, I had come to the conclusion that I am thrilled by this story and I'd just have to read more of your works. I would also like to encourage you to continue with your dreams. Thanks bee!
0ri chapter 8 . 8/24/2006
Great story, like all your other work. I loved all the vulgarism Eiri used... xD Well anyhow, this was a very cool and catchy plot, and I always have a thing for AU's, so this story really hit me as 'wow fantastic'. I loved it.
