This was just heart-rending. And this ending! I mean. I want to believe that Bashir was able to bring Garak back right at the end, butttttt it sort of is left ambiguous, like, it seems like rescue came a bit late? I went to your account and tried to find a sequel but there was none to be found. Why, oh why isn't there a prologue where they bang each other senseless and cuddle like a pair of crazed baby boomers? XD

(That said. Artistic-integrity-wise, though, the bittersweet!ending was very impactful. You don't actually have to pander to readers like me with the desire for a neat and tidy conclusion wrapped up with a neat little bow.)

But but but! This was soooooo sad, homg. I especially found the whole mythological take with the "dragon" stories and the "star-crossed lovers who never got to be together" stories so very... affecting. Tugged at the ol' heartstrings, they did. Very aposite to he whole "huddling-together-for-warmth" thing.

Honestly, there's no established onomatopoeia for the sound that just escaped my lips at the end of this... just the generalized sound of heart break. Ye gods, that was beautiful. Wow...

this was brilliant, really moving. One of the best in DS9 fanfic.

I Love This story! Though I can live with the ending... I must admit I made up about five different sequels in my mind ;P. It's one of the better Julian/Garak stories I've found thus far.

...ffff. That was painful. Is painful. And now I'm stuck with the half hope that maybe they can revive him, which I could tell myself is probably what happens especially if I'm trying to fit this story into the show, and the fatalistic feeling that this is all the better a story for them not to be able to manage it.

...You are a wonderful writer. Thank you for the story. It reminds me of a book I read as a kid that, I think, was simply called the Ice Dragon. It had a picture of a little girl clinging to the back of a furry white neck on it. I'll need to look for it.

Oh my god! That can't be the end! Did you right sequel to this? I'll probably go check in a few moments but if not then you defintly should've! This was amazing and heartfelt and tear jerking and I need more now! You are a great writer and there were zero mistakes as far as I couls see. You embodied the characters perfectly. Amazing job.

This was a good story. I did feel like you left the ending open and could tell more of Dr. Bashir after he is beamed out/rescued. As for Garak I know his heart stopped beating right before the beam out but were they able to revive him or was there a funeral of any type?

That was the sadest fanfiction I have ever read. I had insomnia, my day starts now and I am depressed like shit.
