Ha, I like this, fills in some of the blanks between films 1 and 2. The mindset of the T-800 is written well here.

Interesting take on how they reprogrammed the Terminator...I always thought of it as a kind of "type in different goal, send it on its way" kinda of thing, but your version is much better.

My I suggest you read my 'Terminator Political Parody'? Thays the actual name. But I can't call it buy its TRUE name because that also the punchline to the parody. Also, Please read my 'Godzilla Vs PredatorS: Alien Damnation!' storyline, or rather the first two 2-chapter entries. I will also be submitting the following titles: 'John Wayne vs Predator', 'Predator Vs The Creature from the Black Lagoon', 'Godzilla vs the Herculoids' and various other future projects

Again this was good. I often wondered about the programming of the 2nd Terminator...

I don't see this as senseless at all, myself. (See below.) The writing is very well done; the thought put into the narrative shows. You also effectively create a dark, rather claustrophobic atmosphere for the T-800's "holding cell", where all it can do is wait for...whatever. (It doesn't know.)

"Silence the child so it does not..." I thought that line was hilarious! That is SO how a Terminator would solve that situation. You nailed it.

It's unclear whether this is an ongoing story, or if that was the whole thing. It works either way, really. I'm left thinking that maybe there's more, because the T-800 says its mission is to go back to 1991. But no Terminator (in the Terminator movies, that is) ever went to 1991. The first T-800 went to 1984, the second went to 1994 or 1995 (an ongoing debate). So if this one is going to '91, perhaps there's more story.

On the other hand, if the 1991 bit is just a glitch, and this is the T-800 that protected John when he was 10 in 1994/95 (T2), then there's some interesting commentary within the story. This T-800 was the one Terminator that came the closest to understanding the human condition (we see this in T2), and in this story we can see that this process has started even before John sends it back. Its initial approach to humans - seen in the story - is from a pure logic/puzzle-to-be-solved point of view...and we know that in the movie it progresses to a greater understanding of humanity by "bonding" with the young John Connor. We know that by the end of T2, that T-800 would never say, "Silence the child, etc., etc." because it understands humanity in a different way now, (even if it can never fully understand it). So the story is showing us the very beginnings of the ongoing evolution the T-800 went through in T2.

...unless I'm mistaken. :-) (I could be reading too much into it.)

But far from being senseless, I see plenty of meaning in the story. Good job!
